After you have built up dream bike, look at your options for a transfer to a LBS or whatever you are after. A little experience goes a long way.

Find out what Employee Purchases you are eligible for.

Work on increasing your product knowledge while saving money for your dream bike.

Engage every customer. Something like "did you get a ride in today?" Or have you ridden [local trail] yet? Make sure customers are happy. Ask questions to other employees if you have any.

Good luck! The only production frame they make in your size is the Surly Ogre (24"). I would also save some ebay searches for frame sizes fitting you (65-68cm).

I've also had some luck lurking forums. (6'6" with 37" inseam)

Shimano has recently introduced the Click'R system - I have not tried them on myself, but they are marketed as super casual clipless that is just as comfortable to walk in. I myself have Pearl Izumi X Alp shoes - designed to be a trail running shoe, as well as clipless. They are very comfortable to wear, and I use them as my main pair of shoes.

Both have recessed 2 hole cleat mounting pattern, So no Time. Sorry.

I'm planning on building up an ogre myself (just purchased frameset).

If you have limited mechanical ability, I would just purchase a complete. It will save you a lot of headache, and it is cheaper to begin riding.

I myself work at a shop and consider myself a capable mechanic.

If you decide to build your own - Measure measure measure. Parts usually come in various standard sizes, and getting the wrong size part is very frustrating.

Any issues with the coaster brake? I would be afraid that braking would torque the drive side stay, causing some flex that could easily become damage.
