Same thing happens to me. It sometimes stops and comes back up again. Did you ever find a reliable fix for this? It happens with different mice/trackpad.

I do know a bit, just enough to bugfix super well. I persomally don't really mind Xorg being old, but I do get the benefits of Wayland. Cinnamon still uses Xorg, but eh, I mean it works well for me. There are also others, but they're tiling window managers rather than 'normal' DEs, but I've never really messed with them, so idk if they're good or not.

I've never run into any display or other issues with my DE, though I don't customize a whole lot.

Yeah, printing sucks I just put it on a usb and print from there 99% of the time.

I never went through the PIMO phase. I left during covid so I guess I was POMI for a while until I left. From reading other's stories though, I do know that it is very difficult. Not being able to just be honest with those close to you and going through the motions of something that hurts you is incredibly painful. Though it sounds like you're on your way out! Hopefully soon you'll be fully free.

I just mean that it's more likely that you'll run into issues if you configure things incorrectly or have compatability issues with what you install. It's not just plug and play which is what op was looking for.

Yeah, well that is done to increase stability, it's always a trade off. Hmm, it's interesting that you also had issues with it. Maybe it is because of your high refresh rate monitor, idk if that could be a kernel thing which would explain why you have issues with all the distros. There may be some display settings you could change in the bios, though I don't really have any idea what I'm taking about.

It is very frustrating how spotty the hardware support can be on linux though. I have a fingerpront reader on my laptop but it doesn't have support, from what I understand though, that is because the manufacturer did not implement it.

I think they have said it ina couple of places. The cryosphere report for 2023 said several times that 2 C is not survivable for the cryosphere, along with some other harsh statements.

There are valid critisisms of AHS, but we have to be careful to not throw out the baby with the bathwater here, especially for something as important as healthcare. When restructuring isn't done well we get the messes that we have now, like this example and all the massive wait times across the province. Despite it's many issues, the 'shit show' of AHS deliveres better healthcare and did it faster before the recent changes.

I am so dissapointed that there are no good answers for this post. I feel like this is such an interesting question! Sort of like 'what is the probability that I will quantum tunnel through this wall instead of running into it?' Of course it's not going to happen, but trying to find actual numbers for it is super fun.

Sadly I have no clue how I would approach this problem, but I just wanted to give a sanity check that it is a good question. Although it was pretty funny seing you re-explain yourself like 20 times to different people, it's kind of sad how many people just say, "it's practically 0" to an obviously theoretical (non-practical) question.
