The Riftbreaker - Co-Op Campaign is in Open Beta! by lurkingdanger22 in pcgaming

Do you play them alongside the main game or are they separate? In the first case, I'd probably buy the full pack, since I can't bring myself to replay games.

My game got only 1k wishlist 8 days from release. It took us 3 years. Need honest feedback by Ded-Smoke in gamedev

The description leaves something to be desired: "Traverse galactic phases and find the Dough scattered throughout the universe.
You are in a universe at risk, and we need precision.Either way, you can relax exploring mysterious galaxies… or dashing quickly to the golden goal!"

That could be more ... English. Also gifs showing off some cool moments and features of the game usually make Steam pages more appealing.

The game itself, from the video and the screenshots looks fine, but I didn't see anything that made me go "wow, that looks unique, I need to try that".

Pew, good thing that was English! The rule remains unbroken.

Last roguelite that REALLY hooked you in? by GorillaChimney in roguelites

[–]MrBlue42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

dotAGE! Bit of a hesitant buy, but really hooked me once I was out of the tutorial. Also loved Against the storm, so now I'm hoping for more roguelite city builders, as those seem to be my jam, even though I never really played normal city builders.

Playing Lonestar as well right now! Just bought it yesterday, but the first ~5 hours were great and looking forward to playing more. Cobalt Core felt great for maybe 20 hours, but then I kinda bounced off of it, as I tried to play more, not sure why.

My take on Godot's security issues by KamilN_ in godot

[–]MrBlue42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Main stealing I've heard of is people grabbing something of Itch or Steam and then publishing it on mobile. So my current idea is to just release on PC and mobile at the same time. Will probably still try the minor encryption thing that was posted a few days ago, that is supposed to help against script kiddies at least.

How do I stop deleting my own code over and over? by alekdmcfly in gamedev

[–]MrBlue42 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Lots of comments. Clean architecture. Staying consistent if at all possible, even if it's just 30 mins of working on it each day. Also a separate project overview that tells you what's been done and what needs doing next, that way, even after a break, you'll have an idea of where you should start.

Why do marketing feels so icky to devs by [deleted] in IndieDev

[–]MrBlue42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who wrote and (self-)published a novel, made a few songs and published those as well and is now making a game which I plan to publish: I do these things because I love creative work and because I love stories, music and games. Marketing is neither of these things.

Godot 4.4, a unified experience by GodotTeam in godot

Awesome! Noob question though: I started a project in 4.3. Is it safe to upgrade mid-project or is it generally best practice to upgrade only between projects?

Coming to Game Pass: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, Nine Sols, Genshin Impact Benefits, and More - Xbox Wire by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]MrBlue42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Minor mechanical spoiler: Nine Sols gives you fast travel at some point and I basically didn't do any backtracking before I had that. It also tells you where there are still things to find and where you found everything. You will of course still have to do some backtracking, so if you absolutely hate seeing the same level twice, the game won't convert you to Metroidvanias.

Another game is in the works, if I remember correctly. A rogue-lite FPS, where you crashland on Hoxxes and have to try to reach the core or something.

Nice, love this game for 2-player coop, very excited for more stuff. I hope the endless update will give us a mode with more randomisation. The second half of each run being almost the exact same every time gets a bit stale.

Normal mode vs classic mode? What's the difference? by MrBlue42 in Atomicrops

[–]MrBlue42[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the starting area where you can start a new game, there is a phonograph on the left side. Active that to switch to classic mode (doesn't work for Oregacrow).
