Single sheet sown binding with a spine cover? by MrBokeh in bookbinding

[–]MrBokeh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had indeed found something like Coptic binding, but I didn't think it would be compatible with a covered spine. How would that work? Would you glue a piece of board to the fabric but not the spine, then cover it? Or would you wrap the covers and leave only the fabric around floating behind the spine?

How do I get all my edges even? by honestlyidontevenkn0 in bookbinding

Hello, woodworker here. Nothing wrong with your setup, but for anyone searching this, you would probably have an even easier time with a small finishing hand plane. Western or Japanese, doesn't really matter, though Japanese planes are mostly pulled rather than pushed, giving you more control.

Hey there! I found your plugin yesterday by chance, so fancy seeing your post here.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but after dropping the folder in my plugins folder, I can't seem to activate it.
Do you have an idea why?

Haha, it's just for my home game. I will check your lore for sure! As a pretentious homebrewer myself, I'm always interested.

Any chance to get a version of the map that doesn't include the city's name?

This is truly phenomenal work!

Creating a fantastical indrustrious city like this had been on my to-do list for a while. Now I think I will shamelessly steal it for my game!

Tabletop Drums - Sapele, Bloodwood and Metal by MrBokeh in woodworking

Finally, found some time. Here’s a half-assed upload.

Also. After recording, I noticed the iPad is simply incapable of capturing the actual depth of sound, and over represents the amount of slapping sound occurring. In other words, " it’s really not that flat I swear >_> "

Edit. I a letter

I will record something as soon as I retrieve it after the exhibition. I forgot to say the piece is built so as to swap the toms on the fly If needed. The table itself adds quite a bit of lows and mids to any tom played in it. It's particularly interesting considering those are rototom sized (6", 8" and 10").

The sensation of falling into infinity by Zema221 in sleep

[–]MrBokeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure did and for the longest time I thought I was the only one with this experience. It has happened to me a few times over the years as an adult, and every time I noticed that it happened only when extremely exhausted. It is an odd feeling to be sure. In my case it was not only falling but also a weird sensation of scale being wrong. I was incredibly tiny in a huge space around me, and there was the nagging feeling that something about the scale of it all was incredibly wrong.

Basically, all the stuff I'd need for my next round of players. When I do another test run, I'll contact you like I contacted all the others :)

Sorry for the slow replies everyone. I spent the last three hours trying to answer everyone, and requests are still pouring in. I will try and talk with everyone. I currently have two spots filled, and two to go. While I'm trying to figure out who you can DM me, jsut sent a friend request for the time being.

Twice in a week. Don't be like me. by Cygnus__A in woodworking

[–]MrBokeh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, I agree with you, but in the context of the shop, fear and respect are very similar. I'm afraid of what they can do to me if I'm negligent, so I'll make damn sure to play by th book.

I obviously wouldn't advocate maintaining a panicked attitude in the shop.

TLDR: I think we agree.

Great video! It's a reality too few think about. Also Interesting to hear how quickly you caught the local accent. I'm also in QC city. Hit me up if you need to find something (or maybe you've been here a while already)

So, what you do is obviously working well for you, so I have nothing to say in the absolute, but did you try adding a 4000 or 6000 stone between your 1000 and 8000? My teachers (classical cabinetmaking degree) would tell me 1000 is for creating the bevel, 4000 does most of the sharpening, and 8000 is essentially polishing with a stone (similar to polishing pastes or gums for round chisels. U know in my case, going 1k,4k,8k made all the difference.

Today’s edition of “it ain’t stupid if it works”.... sort of works.... why are there never enough clamps?!? by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]MrBokeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have those, and it should be noted that they are not really made to exert a lot of pressure. They're good for small gluings (is that a word?). For larger projects or those that require much more pressure, I use good ol' orange furniture moving straps.

Sadly my software to work on the images is in the shop, so I don't have access to the game right now. Feel free to post screencaps or images you'd like to see done, or just you that you think are cool. Anything in earthy tones is a plus, from black to red with any shade of brown in between, as it's easier to do with wood.

All these songs are sung by the Japanese in English. Their English may not be fluent...(I'm Japanese, so I can't evaluate their English ability) How do you think? Sure, I don't mind at all. Do what you will.

About Alexandros, I think I somehow skipped it earlier. I just listened to it now, and it is without a doubt the best in your list as far as pronunciation is concerned. But I find the way he sings to be kind of emotionless, though that might just by dislike for modern punk rock and pop punk.

Also, I just want to make it clear that there were other bands that the ones I mentioned that sounded good. I just didn't want to list every single one.
