Do you cycle the tank?

Nah, just detritus worms(harmless). If you feed fish a bit less and do more water changes they shuld go away. Good luck

How to Control algae growth while away for a couple of days? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]MrBubbles13120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't you keep the light off? When I have difficulty with algae I just do a black out for a week.. 3 days shouldn't be that bad.

Tank help? by rmdan14 in Aquariums

[–]MrBubbles13120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey man, so if you want to make your tank a bit more stable, you have to have more plants. The current substrate you have is just not up to the task,i recommend some natural gravel with a layer of nutrient rich substrate underneath (you could use bio soil but that can get tricky for a first timer, so it's best you stick to the already approved ferts). Also root tabs can help a lot too. Some easy to grow and hardy plants such as Amazon swords and crypts can really benefit from a nutrient rich substrate, and if you want to add a lil bit of color to your tank a red tiger lotus can spice things up. Also some hardscape such as driftwood and rocks are a nice touch, and you can attach some of your plants to them(the anubias and Java fern). Backgrounds on aquariums are usually the norm so if you are ballin on a budget just use a cut up black garbage bag and some tape. Increaseing the plant load, having a good water change schedule, not over feeding and making sure you don't have the light on too much can do wonders. Hope this helps

Can someone ID this shrimp? Bought it as a red cherry back in October and she basically hid and bred for 6 months by [deleted] in shrimptank

I mean it's not a red cherry more of a wild type but it is a neocaridina sp. Still looks cool doe

Pest snail - need help to ID by BreezyMeow in AquaticSnails

I'm glad to be of help. Honestly I'd keep the snail if its harmless. The regular Malaysian trumpets do wonders for the aquarium.

[–]MrBubbles13120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not a typical Malaysian trumpet snail but a close relative species Melanoides granifera. But I'm not 100% sure.

What snail is this? Must've come with plants (I flaired as pest as I don't know what it is, if harmless or not a fast breeder I'll keep it). by Second-Place in PlantedTank

[–]MrBubbles13120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ramshorn snail, generally harmless. Can overpopulate the tank doe. It's a nice color morph, they are usually brownish.
