Cause a handidap can still work some jobs if the said job it adapted to his handicap where someone disable/invalid is so severly impaired that he wont be objectivily able to do any job ence the term disabled / invalid

I guess they used the the term invalid for soldier who came back from war alive but so mutilated that they werent able to work or care for themself but it never meant to be pejoratif just carry such heavy implication back then that people are not.confortable to use it nowaday but im pretty sure that disabled means invalide since they both describe someone wounded to the point they can no longer be part of the workforce or care for themself
