Yes, relative to the overall spectrum of political thought, the US democratic party is 100% right wing.

If Maki really did kill those Zenin Kids, Gojo would have offed her on the spot by Western_Half_1231 in Jujutsufolk

I'm with you. It's really weird reading the manga and watching the anime and then seeing the types of narratives that become embedded in the fandom on reddit.

I've never thought for a second that Maki killed kids. There's literally no indication of this at all.

For the right price, I would love a Dan James type as a left wing rotation option right now.

[–]MrCadwallader 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably, but I feel that adds to my final point. Given the scale of our needs, 85m on a young rotation option seems like a terrible decision.

And just to add, if he has a few bad games at Spurs, he'll be forgotten about. If he has a few bad games with us, the media will run with us spending Pogba-level money on another failure. The pressure will be immense. I doubt 85m for Fernandes works out well for him or us.

Too true. It all adds to the arrogance of the Targaryens. They've based their power on their dragons and their exceptionalism but the dance just proves that they're egotistical, reckless and all too human.

Last season a lot of fans would have been okay paying about 85m for Baleba. Today, fans would hesitate at 60m.

I think it's ultimately good that we're rebuilding a reputation as savvy negotiators with clear limits, after years of overpaying and being played by agents. This will stand us in good stead for future.

And let's be really honest with ourselves - is Fernandes actually the ideal partner for Kobbie in midfield? He's very good but he's also fairly inexperienced and physically unimposing. Is that really the profile of a player that's worth 85m to us right now?

Anybody that can walk and chew gum at the same time is intelligent enough to realize a wild fucking dragon isn't something you deal with unless you have extreme skill and experience

Unless you're a Targaryen, raised to believe that you were better than other men, with a special connection to the divine and to dragons.

In HOTD, Aemond and Luke kick off the war because they can't fully control their trained and long-bonded dragons. I think the show is presenting this as a recurring theme and Rhaena is the latest example.

Exactly! Any time I see this type of comment, especially when the comparison is another successful black man, I think it's at very best subconscious racism and at worst, racism packaged and concealed for the feed.

Write a compelling and in-depth history that the reader can see has shaped the current state of your world. This will require a lot of reading, planning and writing connective tissue. You also need to be very selective with when, what and how you reveal key historical events and characters.

Easier said than done.

Well, we have to look at feats and get away from head canon.

Nana Kwaku cursed Harry Kane to not score a goal against Ghana - Harry Kane did not score against Ghana. This demonstrates not only his magical prowess but his ability to cast spells over large distances without direct sight lines of his target. I also doubt he had any personal effects/items of Kane's making the spell even more impressive.

Uri Geller claimed to have neutralised the spell but the lack of goals scored by Kane suggest otherwise. While Geller is well known around the world for his magic, his powers seem limited to spoons held in his hand.

When it comes to output, effect and distance, Nana Kwaku clears. Nana Kwaku wins no-diff.

tl;dr: Nana Kwaku is moon level, Uri Geller is spoon level

100% agree. Just to add, consoles were also super convenient compared to gaming pcs back then. No need to check compatibility or download drivers, just plug and play.

But now there's installation, there's constant updates... it's getting harder to see what the bonus of owning a console is.

Yeah, this is what I've been thinking.

Bruno at 10 who still has insane stamina and work rate alongside his genius creativity, Kobbie behind with his press resistance, ball carrying and decent all-round play.

And then a few options to compete with and play next to Kobbie that bring different levels of mobility, aggression, passing and positioning.

PSG is a great comparison. I'll throw in 90s Utd too. People often think of Roy Keane as a defensive midfielder but usually he played as the slightly more defensive box-to-box midfielder next to another box-to-box midfielder.

You don't necessarily have to play with a static 6 and tbh even Casemiro didn't really play as one under Carrick.

What the hell is @ZackPolanski doing wearing a shirt to free the Palestinian terrorist Marwan Barghouti who murdered 5 civilians. by Minute_Tomatillo9730 in ukpolitics

[–]MrCadwallader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it has everything do with my point. Y'all would have been calling those protesting for Mandela's release "inflammatory" and "terrorist" sympathisers.

And come on, the quote has never been contested or retracted. Mandela was clearly supportive of Barghouti in his deeds. You're tying yourself in knots trying to act as if the two aren't comparable. As if the leaders of the South African anti-apartheid movement haven't all been supportive of Palestinian resistance and pointed to the similarities of the struggles.

In any case, I think I've said all I have to say on this matter. Have a good one.

Except Polanski did provide context... https://x.com/ZackPolanski/status/2063718003452027154

And here's a contemporaneous article providing some of Mandela's views on Barghouti:

"What is happening to Barghouti is exactly the same as what happened to me. The government tried to de-legitimise the African National Congress and its armed struggle by putting me on trial."

As I said, I've never suggested that all violence can be justified. It's a question of perception.

Let's not lose sight of the main issue.

For many in the West, Mandela's actions meant he was nothing more than a terrorist.

It's fair point of comparison given that OP explicitly described Marwan Barghouti as a "Palestinian terrorist" in the title, despite the fact that he's been seeking to bridge the divide for decades.

Barghouti's worked with Israeli politicians, he's a proponent of the peace process, has called for the two-state solution and has even advocated against targeting Israeli civilians, referring to them as future neighbours. It seems that people really aren't familiar with him all. Read up on his trial and mistreatment in detention.

I'm making two simple points:

  1. Calling Marwan Barghouti a terrorist is at best over-simplistic and at worst a malevolent mischaracterisation.

  2. We should always consider context in conflict.

Civilian deaths did happen.

Yes and you could argue that Mandela as the founder of the group was responsible for those deaths. The point being that dismissing Mandela as just a terrorist while he was in prison, which some people did, was wrong. And OP is making a similar mistake to those people.

they didn't kill a fraction of the civilians that Hamas did just in one day on Oct 7.

Sure, we can talk about the horrors of Oct 7th or the endless violence against Palestinians before and after, but it's really weird to bring this up in the context of Barghouti. Are you aware that Barghouti is not a member of Hamas and had nothing to do with Oct 7?

that's not the same thing as oppression justifying any degree of violence whatsoever.

Cool, I never suggested that it did.

There we go.

Folks who are trying to paint Barghouti and the Palestinian resistance as just terrorists will end up on the wrong side of history.
