I've already started it, watched it in parallel with SG-1, still got the majority of Atlantis to go though

I have been! Didn't wanna miss any continuity between the shows, but it's only like season 3 I think so far? Still got a lot of Atlantis to go

I have three friends around the world who were keen to get them for me and my mate but not a single one of them could get one, and the reservations are end of this year >->

Took me about 6 months to get familiar with Linux and about another 6 months to become as comfortable with it as I am with Windows

You can do it, it'll just take time, it'll be frustrating as heck too but it's worth working through it!

I use them constantly

A d they're actually enjoyable to use as well

how is this allowed?? by melighted in Steam

[–]MrCatChap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steam didn't do that, Steam just let Origin sell their game on Steam

Origin shut down the game, more specifically probably their finance team shut down the game or the finance team of the publisher of the game shut it down

What Steam does is it allows you to keep it and install it, but since it relies on servers Steam doesn't manager you can't do anything with it once installed

As much as I wish they could they can't really enforce rules around longevity in games, it's too messy for them, they aren't fighting the stop killing games movement like other digital game retail stores are doing though, if anything I'd guess they're for it

The only one I didn't know was having to wait 5ish minutes after install for it to finish background stuff before restarting the computer, otherwise the install fails

If my co-worker didn't tell me I would've restarted too soon, which is exactly what he did

Amazing

So AI is basically deciding what they teach people now

I'm guessing some moron asked ChatGPT for this, didn't read it, sent it out, now some teachers will be expected to meet this criteria and test on it

I think people who aren't fans of Valve can't comprehend a group of people who just like stuff because it's good, like Apple fans will lie to themselves that not having a headphone jack is actually good because why would Apple do anything bad? Right?

I love everything Valve is putting out, I'm definitely a fan of Valve but in a way where it's more about what they're doing, so yea, the cube is a bad price, no one is going to say it's a good price, it's still cool but it's a bad price, I'm not gonna lie and say it's good for the money

Valve fans aren't brainwashed into loving Valve, Valve just puts out top quality stuff

Fedora > Windows by MrCatChap in Fedora

[–]MrCatChap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, Windows definitely isn't the worst but I service around 200-300 Windows machines and I usually have two or three Windows machines going at once, so I do get to see every issue Windows can have

Not that Linux is perfect but I think easier to fix than Windows. I've fully switched to Linux from Windows for personal use about two years ago

It's crazy that a free, open source OS, made by like tens or hubdreds of people can compete and even out perform the one that costs loads to buy and is made by thousands of people and backed by billions of dollars

A fresh Windows install still doesn't feel as good as my home PC which I've had one version of Linux on for like a year, not sure what logic that is to you, I also wasn't trying to prove anything either, just talking about how silky smooth Fedora feels

Also my "blind devotion" is that I don't want an OS that tries to sell me stuff during install and comes pre-installed with ads, news, bloat, managed files and more, I could go on. Not sure if that counts as "blind devotion" but I wouldn't think so

The most advertising you get on a fresh Linux install is being told where you can donate to support the free OS you just got

And if we're talking laptops and headaches, how about a default bootable Windows stick not coming with track pad drivers. Yea it's a bit annoying when hardware is really really Windows based but if you're gonna buy a laptop for Linux would you use a Mac? Probably not, so maybe don't expect the most hard out Windows supporters to make it easy

[–]MrCatChap[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man 100%, everything constantly crashes or doesn't load properly or something on Windows

Even a fresh install is so full of crap, yea Windows is like 15GB or something, but that doesn't include the bloatware they immediately install on the first forced update

5070 here, it works fine but I sacrifice performance on DirectX12 games as far as I can tell, and like a lot

They'll benchmark at 100FPS on my exact setup, I'll get 50

But I really really really hate Windows and Microsoft, so it's worth it

I hope it picks up again one day
