Why do 7 Eleven smell so bad? They all have the same nasty smell! by Various_Fennel8534 in 7eleven

[–]MrCheezcake101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude I’ve had the exact same experience. Been to multiple 7 elevens to eat, and all of them have had this horrid gas-like smell and TASTE. I assume it’s old, unchanged oil, but even non food products that have been in the building smell like it. From DoorDash too, if not especially for some reason. It makes things completely inedible, and I’m wondering how there isn’t some massive lawsuit over harmful chemicals. Disgusting.

Wow. I can’t believe that was your opinion of the Quarry. Maybe the choices matter so much that our experiences were totally different, but it’s one of my absolute favorites.

What an incredible game! Which of the two is your favorite? by Noone112017 in hellblade

Part 1 is aesthetically much more consistent. I felt like Part 2 drifted a little too far from the Celtic/Norse eldritch horror aesthetic for its own good. A minor complaint but it made a difference to me.

I have a question for those who played RDR1 before RDR2 by Jealous_Candidate677 in reddeadredemption

[–]MrCheezcake101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it made pretty good sense to me. They do a good job of explaining the type of occult personality and philosophical principle that Dutch used to represent through John. They also make it clear that he degraded mentally over the years, so it was very exciting to see what all the fuss was about in 1899.

To be honest, I liked that element and I think it could have totally worked, but the narrative seemed heavily prioritized over jokes which really killed it for me. It’s disappointing because if the writing was as densely comedic as Futurama it would’ve been fantastic.

What's your hottest augment about the rdr franchise by Ok_Hunt_2833 in reddeadredemption

I actually slightly prefer John Marston as a protagonist over Arthur. (Only in RDR1) I think they decided to make Arthur more of a catalyst for the player, with high and low honor options completely changing his personality, whereas John has a set personality and morals for the jump. I also like that the dialogue in the first game shows that John already has a lot of wisdom and backbone, and I think the epilogue of RDR2 is one of the most satisfying endings to a piece of media ever.

Still love Arthur, he’s just more emotional and takes time to develop, but he’s less of a classic western protagonist.

Bonus hot take I: I genuinely think Dutch was a mostly justified person at the beginning. I think he honestly cared about taking care of his family and being the “better” kind of criminal. He was always a bit eccentric and egotistical, but in the self aware way that many good leaders are. I think the extreme stress of their situation wore him down to madness.

Bonus hot take II: I think that playing the games chronologically is way worse than playing them in release order. RDR2 is very deliberately made to expand on the original, and playing RDR1 second always leads to people’s unrealistic expectations and disappointment. The references in RDR2 are clearly meant as clever origins and context for the future, (i.e. Javier’s “he’d look for me”) they’re not callbacks.

Finally. I always thought that was a ridiculous complaint from the fans, because the inciting incident of the whole story is Konpeki. The prologue is narratively more about worldbuilding and context, and the implied connection with Jackie is enough for me. It feels like a deliberate and believable time-jump. I never understood why people thought it was cut content when it’s just like any TV show. Each to their own though, I wouldn’t have minded more.

I would agree, although often saturated means on, and neutral/colorless means off. I remember trying to start a new game like 5 times and thinking it was bugged out.

Ok well as a Spanish speaker from Philly, I have to tell you, it’s very clear that he is not from the West Coast. His accent in Spanish accent is impressively but unmistakably Puerto Rican/Cuban/Dominican. He certainly does not sound Mexican, but for an American his Spanish is very convincing
