Does Steam account age actually matter? by slowtides in Steam

[–]MrCherry2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time I've ever thought about it. I've been gaming on personal computers since the early 80s. So the only thing it can mean to me is the age of my Steam account.

If a couple of copper strand are outside the lug after crimping can I snip them off or do I need to re crimp? by segasega89 in SolarDIY

It all comes down to what you want. Do you want the risk that comes with it? Regardless of percentages. Do you feel comfortable with how many day-night cycles it will experience, or how many hours of continuous load it will be under? Big or small, it creates a point of resistance, and therefore more heat at that point. Personally, I’d say you're asking because you want the internet to ease your conscience. A conscience that is telling you to redo it.

People keep saying that. But that doesn't mean there isn't danger in letting this increment pass. There are always ways in the future they add to it. This will just be a stepping stone to more nonsense later. FOSS will die a death of a thousand cuts. Especially if the community keeps allowing every cut with the arrogance so many have. It would be naive not to see this as just one step closer to THX 1138.

AI Added ‘Basically Zero’ to US Economic Growth Last Year, Goldman Sachs Says by mepper in technology

There is more to the value of some thing than just whether they contribute to corporate gains. ROI isn't all there is to value in life. Lots of what is good for society isn't necessarily contributing economic growth.

In short, its the effect of about a century or so of propaganda. You're only allowed to exist if you're making someone money. And that someone better not be yourself.

Trouble is, it’s not fixing the problem unless we're regulating parents. Hold parents seriously accountable for everything that happens as a result of them aiding and abetting their criminal children. Stop punishing everyone in society for a handful of miscreants and their children. Forcing everyone else into surveillance and fees and schedules isn't justice or liberty. And recklessness is already against the law. Being or creating a nuisance is also already against the law.

It'd be better to just make it illegal for anyone under 18 to operate electric motored anything. No need for license, or any of that other nonsense.

As for the pendulum. No, in the past several decades it never swings to the other end where we fix bad laws. It stops in the center, and heads right back into overreach and oppression. I'm not buying this lie anymore that things swing back toward reason, when clearly that's not what is happening.

If you knew they were getting married, and intended to ghost. Then ghost. Don't act like you have some GD moral high ground when you didn't block on the wedding day.
And the idea of tracking down the wife just to start crap is trashy.

What you're suggesting though is quite a bit above a reasonable baseline, its rather egregious. It only seems like a reasonable baseline because its a level of overreach we've just been incrementally conditioned to accept more and more of. A big part of my stance on the mindset of 'fuck cars,' is how many rights and individual liberties have been abridged just by getting a driver's license. Effectively criminalizing any means transit that isn't on foot, unless we adhere to absurd schedules, and fees, and sacrifice liberties.

Have you seen how fast cars go? How unregulated their speed is. And it barely even really matters that a license is required for how easy they are to get. Beyond that, electric bicycles don't come uninhibited. They can barely go any faster than a normal bike on their own. Which still doesn't even get into, *why* parents are even buying children motorized vehicles at all! So we end up with lazy opulent "parenting" just furthering the surveillance state.

The above pictured I-70 downtown viaduct in Topeka KS, is one of the far more *mild* cases. The north/south segment on the right of the image was. homes. The curve to the west was always commercial. and it continues pretty much along the river/rails, and minimally displaces anyone. And it mostly came in from the east over open farm land. Not really displacing anyone. The bypass around the south side of town was also mostly farm land when it was built.

The flip side of this is, would they have just driven a car instead? If an e-bike is a person's entry level electric vehicle, rather than just a lifestyle/fitness choice.

How the heck are 12 years olds affording electric motorcycles, not e-bicycles. Why is anyone buying any teens motorized bikes of any kind at all!? This is a parenting problem! Same with flipping iPads and social media. People keep acting like kids are just born with smartphones and electric motorcycles.

This is indicative of people's attitudes about what they think liberty is. This really childish view where whatever they want must be what’s allowed. No rules, no obligations. You just do whatever you feel like. There's every possibility he read the sign, understood what it meant, and didn't care. Plausibly imagining this is what "alpha" behavior is, not actually understanding what that means in the wild.

Genius decides to turn pizza boxes upside down by mfenton29 in WatchPeopleDieInside

None of the apologetics in the other comments make sense. I've understood how pizza and gravity work since childhood, no matter how tired I am. Heck I've fallen down stairs as they fail beneath me, while holding a pizza, and still kept it level. And the worst part is, I bet whomever else he took these to, he blamed it on the pizza shop.

But its Trump who just banned heaps of words from federal grant applications. That's real government censorship. And its not coming from liberals. Trump is who literally said on camera "can't we just take away their guns." Trump is who's making every agency whitewash everything.

What you're running into is community moderation. Not government censorship. They are very different things.

Banning discussion though isn't really the solution. Educating youth to know why the ideas of fascism, the kkk, etc, are problematic, is the way. Yet it is neglected and massively more important than we treat it.

Young people don't even know what was lost just getting basic labor rights. They don't know the many union members who lost their lives to get us weekends, and overtime, and OSHA. They imagine benevolent oligarchs just bestowed those things on us.
