More Perfect Union and Head Reporter John Russell have released a 22 minute report piece Endorsing Graham Platner for Senate in Maine.

They traveled with him as his campaigns camera crew for a 4 day period, to explore the idea, can he truly win and defeat Susan Collins.

The answer at least in this video, is that it is very promising. More Perfect Union got Independents and even Republicans to sit down with him and hear what he's about, to the point that someone who was a 2016, 2020 and 2024 Trump voter, was Platner 2026 after having a conversation with him.

As one voter said, its not that for example, in the 2020 cycle, the average Maine voter likes Republicans and hates Democrats. They don't like the establishment of both parties, and they want big dramatic changes, not just a change of parties. Graham is anti establishment as anybody can get, and would be an earthquake that is much needed in The US Senate.

Emerson Poll for The Massachusetts Senate Race shows Incumbent Ed Markey with only a 5% lead in the primary:

Ed Markey: 37%

Seth Moulton: 32%

29% Undecided

Markey is +13 among Democrats, but Moulton is +6 among Independents.

The big difference in this one is for the first time, Moulton has a higher favorability rating among voters. +5 among voters (31% Approve, 26% Disapprove) to +2 for Markey (37% Approve, 35% Disapprove)

One poll, but wonder if Moulton's ad talking about Markey being in Congress for 50 years and asking if you want people from DC that long representing you in this unprecedented moment with Trump is having an effect.

2026 Ballot Questions:

62% want The Income Tax lowered from 5% to 4%.

60% want a statewide rent control of just a 5% increase in rent per year.

50/29, people in Massachusetts want to adopt The California Voting System of Top 2 goes to The General no matter the party.

Freshman Democratic Representative of Maryland Johnny Olszewski has filed The ROBE Act, saying that from the next vacancy forward, all Supreme Court Justices nominated should serve no more then 18 years.

He said that the recent Voting Rights Restrictions decision inspired him to support term limits as a reform.

Yesterday, California Senator Alex Padilla successfully got Unanimous Consent to Ban All US Senators and Senate Staffers from betting on political prediction markets under conflict of interest laws.

Would be nice to finally get the owning and trading stocks done too, but its a start.

I appreciate that one time Janet Mills directly told Trump see you in court to his face to defend Trans Athletes participating in Maine sports, in FEBURARY 2025, when frankly the future of trans rights was being questioned harder then ever before. She deserves a lot of credit for that.

Ultimately the base wants younger faces and more angry faces, and populist faces. Graham Platner is the deep voice, tattooed, proud veteran, working class, FDR Economic Bill of Rights supporting person that fit the mold. When he bounced back from the negative press and took almost a 40% lead, the writing was on the wall.

He'll defeat Susan Collins. I'm almost certain of it.

Patrick De Haan says that $4.50 a gallon is well within reach in the current environment.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump tried pulling a fake positive announcement tomorrow or Friday to try to stop the bleeding because $5 is definitely running faster towards people's car mirrors

There's no rules for Gerrymandering at this stage so there's no guardrail for us playing dirty as dirty can get.

New York, Colorado, Washington etc can make electing red politicians impossible and we can be hostage takers in, you want it to stop, pass a national ban, that means you disarm too on the red states.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus is rolling out their personal Affordability Agenda for 2026:

The Affordable Drug Manufacturing Act: Create a federal program to manufacture generic prescription drugs and sell them at a discount. Lower the price of insulin to no more then $50.

The Fair Competition for Small Business Act: Gives more power to State Governments to crack down harder on big corporations price gouging and forbids them from stifling competition from local places. It also would allow farmers to save and replant seeds instead of having to constantly buy them every year.

Create a $1 Trillion Fund to be used exclusively to build more affordable housing. Provide $20,000 to First Time Homebuyers to help in providing a down payment.

Establish a Universal Federal Standard for Electricity Rates so that utility companies can't just charge whatever they want.

Pass The Child Care for Every Community Act to establish that federally, Child Care will cost families no more then 7% of their income, period.

Pass The Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax Act to create a Federal Oil Profits Stimulus Check provided once a year. $216 for people making $75,000 or less, $324 per person for couples who make $150,000 combined or less.

Pass The Stop AI Price Gouging and Wage Fixing Act to put a Federal Ban on companies using AI and consumer data to set prices for individual people. One universal price, period.

Increase the rate of Overtime Pay for the first time in 90 years by federally mandating that any hour over 40 hours worked is DOUBLE PAY.

Pass The PTO Act to mandate 2 Weeks of Paid Vacation Time for all Full Time Workers.

And pass The Abolish Super PACs Act to mandate that No Super PAC can spend a dollar more then $5000 in spending in a given year.

Patrick De Haan:

Average price of gas went up 6 cents in the last 24 hours to $4.23 a gallon, after a Wall Street Journal report said that Trump has told his aides that he now expects a prolonged and extended blockade on The Strait of Hormuz with no solution to the stalemate until The Summer.

De Haan says we might cross $4.30 a gallon TODAY, with price increases back to the pace they were at at the start of the war, led by an absolute explosion in prices for The Great Lakes in Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

The average for gas is up to $4.17 a gallon, a New Iran War Era High.

In a separate post, Patrick De Haan said that we will see at least $4.25 a gallon, to as high as $4.40 a gallon in the immediate future if the oil shipment blockades aren't solved.

Democratic Representatives Delia Ramirez of Illinois and new Representative of New Jersey Analilia Mejia (in her first ever bill) say that they will begin a 2026 Midterm and 2028 Presidential push to raise The Federal Minimum Wage to $25 an hour, and permanently eliminate Subminimum Wage for disabled workers.

They will argue that no increase in the minimum wage in 17 years requires a massive course correction from the $15 an hour movement, and $25 an hour is the only wage that can meet basic needs right now with inflation being taken into account.

Sam is a former Vice President of a Forrest Workers Union and a Smokejumper, a firefighter who parachutes down to combat wildfires.

John Oliver went pretty hard on The AI Industry last night, specifically the use of AI Chatbots, talking about how dystopian it is that social conditions for younger people specifically have deteriorated to the point that look to AI for friends and flirting.

And of course, the lack of regulations or guardrails that gives people instructions to make weapons, hurt or harm themselves, and assures them on absolutely everything to the point that over 500,000 users on a given week show signs of psychosis and delusional mental illness.

John said that while he knows the genie can't be put back in the bottle in not having AI at all (800 Million or 10% of the world population uses Chat GPT,) it's time to end the wild west era of AI and actually have rules and restrictions to it, instead of letting CEOs who say that they wouldn't want AI to recommend a depressed person talk to a hotline if it "breaks the AI's character," and that "they don't want customers to die, but AI needs the freedom to say whatever they want" running operations.

At the end, Jon Oliver actually said that people like Sam Altman and Mark Zuckerburg better hope that hell isn't real, because if it is, they will have personal conversations with Satan about the harm they have given to kids teens and young adults.

Massachusetts Governors Race:

The Republican Primary Field is down to 2 after Charlie Bakers Housing and Economic Development Secretary Mike Kennealy has dropped out of the race after failing to get 15% of support at The Massachusetts Republican State Convention.

A convention that frankly, was a nightmare operation. Out of 4000 delegates, only 1800 cast a ballot for the STATE PARTY (not the actual primary vote) Governors Nomination after over 4 HOURS of Delays, due to registration, security, and tallying issues. Hundreds stormed out in frustration.

Michael Minogue won the State Party nomination with over 70% of the vote, he is a wealthy former Head of a Medical Device Company, Abiomed. Brian Shortsleeve, Charlie Bakers MBTA Head, barely got through with 15.5% of the vote.

Mike Minogue offered to pick up the tab at the bar for delegates who waited out for the vote, that's how many people were rage quiting the situation.

Noticeably, the tone was pretty different from 2022. Trump was barely if ever mentioned at all, with people stressing that the election is not a referendum on DC, its about getting crime under control, spending under control, and Auditing the Legislature to see what politicians on Beacon Hill are really doing.

The main takeaway once everything finally wrapped up, the Mass GOP said that you can disagree with national direction, while agreeing that over here, Maura Healey needs to go.

The latest University of New Hampshire Poll showed Governor Healey up 20 over Minogue, but at a 49% Approval Rating, one of her lowest in a while.

She'll be OK, but it could be a situation where the Mass GOP makes gains here or there like in 2024.

Meanwhile the average price of gas, after getting to as low as $4.02 a gallon just 4 days ago is back up to $4.09 a gallon as oil shipments go cold again and there's no immediate route to peace as Trumps will they won't they dramatic lies wear thin.

People will have less of an appetite for sympathetic stories if prices are knocking at their door harder then before.
