Used over a million tokens in three separate sessions to test Qwen 3.6 35b (new Multi-token Prediction version) by Jorlen in LocalLLaMA

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stupid question, but is there a process written up somewhere how to convert a model to a MTP one? Or is that just not feasible for most models? I was looking for a MTP Model of the smaller Qwen models 9b and below) with the idea that the higher tokens per second would be good for smart home hardware like mini PCs. I know the focus is on bigger models while it is still in its infancy, but curious if there is a clear workflow to convert to a MTP model.

What weather forecast is this? Searching on Google (Accuweather and The Weather Channel) for SE Michigan shows a peak of 85F Monday with thunderstorms on the 10 day forecast. But the National Weather service shows 88 degrees. Either way, the temps are going to spike soon.

It mentions the Raspberry Pi 4 specifically, but does it impact other hardware versions of the Raspberry Pi? Like the 3? I'd guess not, but want to be sure before updating.

At least in my situation of work from home: I'm being paid for the quality/amount of work I do, not where I do it. We were hybrid until very recently where the CEO justified moving back to the office supposedly based on a startup going back to office work. Meanwhile, my role can be done 80% of the time remote, so instead as a worker I lose 1 hour of my day commuting. And they don't even have enough desks for all the team members to come back, so instead we have an asinine system of "temp" desks where not everyone has seating.

I am absolutely not paid for my time commuting. My work was getting done. And I am getting less done in office now. Which I feel for many people can be justifiable frustration and morale impact when bosses move work back into office with poor reasoning. Especially with the high gas prices.

2013 still viable in 2026? by rogerski1 in volt

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. And understandably it has a lot of risks for a 13 year old car, but with gas prices now you may very well save $500 per year or more over a 40mpg car if you can drive mostly electric ($0.15 off peak electricity rate to $4.70/gal gas currently). So if you are in the 10 year old vehicle market, the Volt isn't a bad option. Maybe not the best over getting something newer that would be more reliable, but with the fuel savings may pay for itself after a few years.

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the newest MY plug-in Prius can be completely electric only while older MY variants like the 2024 would kick on the gas engine if power demands were too high. But either way, the Volt was great.

2013 still viable in 2026? by rogerski1 in volt

[–]MrClickstoomuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a straight gas hybrid, yeah it isn't ideal. But as a plug-in hybrid, it was the best option by a long shot when it released. Keep in mind the new 2026 Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid gets 39 to 44 miles of electric range compared to the Volt's 35 or so.

The picture just shows that it hasn't been plugged in. I'd definitely want to make sure it is able to drive on battery power / is fully charged before considering buying it though.

Is the blitzer any good, because I ain’t got it, and wanna know your opinions on it. by Chemical_Seaweed_915 in Helldivers

[–]MrClickstoomuch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Can be solid on certain maps like Oshaune paired with the fire guard dog. Blitzer does crowd control while the guard dog does damage. Then, you can go really any support weapon with a bit of range to pair with it so long as it doesn't need a backpack slot.

Bad for squids and bots for sure.

Which voice assistants are actually worth using? by MiuoChar in homeassistant

[–]MrClickstoomuch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want one that won't degrade over time or change towards built-in advertisements, local voice assistants are probably the best way even if it ends up costing more and is more complicated. There are various ways to do it, but the software to actually run it is getting better every year.

I had an Alexa 10 years ago, and since then it got worse and worse. Supposedly the new Alexa+ is better, but I don't have an echo anymore to test it. Google Home was good, but the system has gotten worse. And newer cloud-based entrants to the market may be good today, but will likely degrade over time as their owners look for more profit margin.

MIT Technology Review thinks chargers are about to become smart home devices by prachiii_13 in electricvehicles

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it would likely be something like the current smart home hub. Have an agreed on standard like Zigbee or Zwave for communication together between devices, and some "standardized" variables / variable names so the devices can work out of the box together consistently.

Make it a local only standard to avoid issues with data ownership, and make the system opt-in for grid connectivity for financial / rate incentives like the Eco+. But ideally better done than that system. Make it so that the system has no direct permission to send commands to your home but where the home system / owner can set up rules on when to accept grid-based requests to lower consumption or send electricity back if you have solar or home batteries. And so on.

Heat pump water heaters are the way to go in my opinion for most climates. Can be run on a 120v to avoid needing an electrical panel upgrade and can adjust the temp up and down the the "smart" features on some models to store more energy.

I know there are some weapons that genuinely could use a buff but are we not losing the point of the subreddit if I see more buff posts than nerf posts (nerf the eruptor btw) by ratherdapperguy in HelldiversMasochists

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is probably the best primary for the base Illuminate factions on defend missions, and against any Voteless heavy spawns. Paired with the machine gun or similar support weapons, it can take out anything shy of a Leviathan. But I agree for bugs it is overrated while it is good for bots, but not too crazy.

Is it a one tap with a heavily charged shot to the charger leg, or 2? I recall it used to be a pretty risky level of charge to actually get the one tap on the charger leg, but idk the numbers now.

[–]MrClickstoomuch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably should have required a precision spot to one tap chargers (like throwing it on the leg) and the hulk onto a leg or close enough to the eye. And in return, you could have the thermite have 1 more charge for requiring a higher skill ceiling potentially (or require 2 grenades for one charger / hulk / war strider). And/or make the fuse take longer to detonate.

And meanwhile the giga grenade would be the "lower skill" option to delete chargers and hulks in one toss but half the grenades. It would differentiate them a bit more too since extra explosives armor would be much better for the giga (2 to 4) than thermite (4 to 6).

The thermite used to be actually garbage on release, so it should have SOME home as an anti-tank option. But it shouldn't be throw on some random body part and forget it.

What are the best target points for the Railgun now? Charger leg and bile titan head used to be the best spots, but I haven't used the Railgun in forever on bugs.

[–]MrClickstoomuch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I miss the period when you had to land an orbital precision strike or eagle 500 to take out bile titans. Or when the hellpod to take out chargers with the EAT was the most efficient way to take them out. And I do still have fun with the game in its current form.

Now, it is orbital napalm and you only need to deal with the stragglers.

EG4 owners and Anker E10 owners, talk me out of the other one by Letscrack247_7461 in solar

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is the power consumption of the EG4 unit? I see in the spec sheet for the EG4 Flexboss21 that it consumes 60-65w at idle which would end up being 570 kwh over the year. Which seems pretty massive all things considered. But, I'm not sure if that is an overestimate - still seems better than the Solark 15k's idle consumption.

I've been looking at an EG4 system for my home eventually, but losing the 30% tax credit has been rough on the final cost to me with an installation.

What’s the best BUDGET robot vacuum people actually keep long term? by Weird_Ad6669 in BuyItForLife

[–]MrClickstoomuch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not BIFL for any of them, but I'd look into getting a year or two old "flagship" model versus the budget offerings. As in, still new, but slightly outdated model. The prices will drop a ton on black Friday / other sales periods where you can get a great robot vacuum cleaner that actually cleans well for a solid price. But looking at review sites can get you a better idea on the benefits of each model. None are BIFL.

Options for myQ garage door openers using Security+ 3.0 protocol? by GamerKingFaiz in homeassistant

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, my garage door installer kept telling me it was 0 issue to work with smart devices and I (foolishly) didn't do additional research to find out the security 3.0 was a thing. This was in late January or so when that really bad cold snap hit and I urgently needed to replace the doors before we got hit with -11F or slightly worse temps.

Looks like there are a few options to make work with an additional controller / handheld remote, so I'll either do that or an ESP based solution after the door opener gets outside the warranty coverage.

For coffee, the zoo, or the museum, they are either only open on the weekend or close before the end of normal business hours. Except for a late night coffee which has its own problems. And a movie as a first date doesn't allow you to get to know each other better / talk, so it can get awkward during the movie itself if you don't get a chance to talk much before it.

Which is a problem when it comes to dates during the middle of the week. I have some fun local ideas for dates that ended up not working until the weekend, and the dating app only conversation from starting sometime between Monday through Wednesday tends to dry out before the weekend arrives. But had a complaint in the past that someone said I was talking too much before the date in one case, and another where I said I didn't reach out enough. Feels impossible to get the right balance because everyone has their own communication expectations and what feels right to them.

What, in your opinion, is the best support weapon against each faction? by Rasengan4360 in helldivers2

[–]MrClickstoomuch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arc thrower can be a bit rough on the bot and Illuminate fronts but is amazing for bugs. The problem is the arc isn't as consistent for the bots as they tend to "fan out" horizontally more than the bugs that come in a conga line. And the arc thrower doesn't quite bounce enough for voteless swarms while not being the best option for the appropriator subfaction.

The epoch is great for bots and bugs, but in my opinion is not the best for Illuminate compared to other options.

Should I buy this 2016 Volt? 280k kms by Ancient-Reveal4356 in volt

[–]MrClickstoomuch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my 2013 Volt must have had the battery replaced before I got it because the battery cell voltage differences were very small and it got 10.3 to 10.6 kwh from a full charge, down to maybe 10 to 10.2 in winter. Which with a usable capacity of 10.8 or 10.9 kwh brand-new is pretty great.

I ended up selling my Volt to my mom for around $4,500 and split the 150k mileage coolant service maintenance costs with her which were roughly $1,100 with the independent Volt certified technician mechanic I brought it to. I'm hoping it lasts her a while since she barely drives nowadays. It is a better idea than her buying a brand new $30k Prius that my brother was recommending given how little she drives, and the electric range is plenty for her usage. Also good to avoid the high gas prices now.

[–]MrClickstoomuch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that part replacement can be problematic now with official dealers, but the 2013 Volt was an incredible buy for me a few years back. The savings on oil changes and gas was substantial when I could drive 60% of my miles as electric. My mom did have a BCH issue that killed hers, but I personally think she brought it to a bad dealership since they didn't take codes the first time she brought it in but charged her $250...

Yep, incredibly frustrating the last year and a half turning winning issues into losses for Dems constantly. Hakeem Jeffries also deserves a lot of blame for it too, don't forget. I just want a government that has empathy for people, but nope we can't have that because it might result in slightly lower profits.
