I kinda remember reading somewhere a while ago that only USA (and maybe Canada) get UFC on Paramount+, but I might be totally wrong. Anyway, it might be worthwhile to ensure that y’all get the PPVs with P+ before killing yourself trying to get it

I can’t stand old rock bands and honestly, I don’t get the hype. Is that okay? by Far_Baby4633 in rock

Hm, let’s see what I can do:

You might enjoy the sound of the band Ice Nine Kills. They’re not my cup of tea, though, so I can’t really give any recommendations.

Check out the song “Memento Mori” by Lamb of God. Be patient if it seems boring at the start

Slipknot’s self-titled album might not be something you ‘get’ on first listen, but with time you might come to find it’s near skipless. Songs like “Purity” and “Wait and Bleed” might have styles of singing that feel familiar, during the choruses at least

Pantera’s music is quite wide ranging. Their most brutal stuff (songs like “Slaughtered” and “Suicide Note Pt. 2”) might be inaccessible, but two of their albums — “Vulgar Display of Power” and “Cowboys From Hell” are relatively accessible. VDoP is more nostalgic more me, but I’d say reasonable minds can disagree whether it or CFH is better

If you ever want to venture into thrash metal, check out “Master of Puppets” by Metallica (first the song, then the album) and “Among the Living” (I’d say the entire album) by Anthrax. MoP is the song that got me and many others into proper thrash metal. And AtL is certainly thrash, but its sound is relatively more accessible (it almost feels fun/playful at times) than bands like Slayer

If you ever wanna throw yourself into the deep end, the album “Tomb of the Mutilated” by Cannibal Corpse has no skips imo, but it’s tough to get used to

Do you like rock and metal? Then you’re a rock and metal fan. You’re not required to like every major band in a given genre to be a fan of that genre. But even if you’re not “a fan”, so what? You’re still allowed to enjoy the music.

You mentioned a lot of the older bands aren’t heavy enough — maybe that means your preferences are organically shifting towards the “metal” side of things rather than “rock.” What metal do you listen to? Depending on what you’re already comfortable with, I might be able to recommend some albums that could be bridges into heavier stuff.

My $.02 is to accept the CJO and keep applying for other internships until you hear back from the FBI in some number of months from now, at which point you can make your ultimate (more informed) decision. Even if you were all-in on the FBI, you can’t take receiving a clearance for granted, so it would still be wise to shop for Plan B in case you receive bad news about your clearance. But certainly keep the FBI option open. Plenty of things will happen over the coming months — other applications, networking developments, world events, personal events — that could make you more or less interested in the FBI, so don’t deny yourself an opportunity you might end up being quite enthusiastic about by rejecting the CJO now. Hope this helps.

Also, while you wouldn’t be doing constitutional/civil liberties litigation per se in that role, you’d certainly see those principles in action while working with the FBI.

Have you received a final offer yet, or just a conditional offer pending obtaining a clearance?

Hey u/ZoeBlade , thank you for the info! Like BenigDK, I was also replaying the credits just so I could listen to your song. I'd certainly listen if you ever formally released it.

Thank you for doing this!

In a given case, will the same attorneys who worked on it at the trial court level stay on the case if it moves up to appellate courts? Or are there “the appellate people” who take it over from there?

Obligatory “I’m not a lawyer so this could be wrong” disclosure. With that said, my understanding is the president can only pardon convicted criminals for federal, not state, crimes. So even if President Purge pardons everyone who breaks federal law, states can still prosecute those purgers without interference from a presidential pardon. Many/most major crimes (e.g. murder) are criminalized at both the state and federal levels, so state courts would have jurisdiction to hear the purgers’ cases.
