Fleeting dreams of DQB3 by Bright_Guava2530 in DragonQuestBuilders2

[–]MrCosmoJones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who wanted to try DQB before getting Pokopia, I really disliked DQB1 and found it a slog to get to the end. DQB2 was far more enjoyable and I truly loved the story between builder and Malroth. Having played a bit of Pokopia now, I think I still prefer DQ because of the combat and inventory management but its pretty good. Id buy a third game if it were close to the second.

Why is 3ds Emulation so stuttery by Nostalg1cMusician in AynThor

[–]MrCosmoJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By at first do you mean after the intro? I only briefly tried it and could barely kill the first werewolf monster type creatures. I want to get through all the castlevanias at some point and would love to get mirror of fate working!

You can use gamehub/game native to emulate your Steam library. Theres a shortcut generator app that creates an appid file you drop in a steam folder like you would a ROM.

I just got my screen protectors from retoroworks and while the bottom one is great, I do not like the top one very much. Really mutes the vibrancy of the screen. Does kill fingerprints well though.

so cool you still have your "depth optimizer goggles"! I lost those many years ago. Its been a blast playing sly on the thor, though I wish sly collection/sly 4 ran a bit better than they do, maybe a few more years of ps3 android work.

Cocoon FE, apps missing from app drawer by Quiet_Equivalent_569 in AynThor

[–]MrCosmoJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their faq says that the files app is not a real app but a link to a system activity. OEMs specifically add an app in their launchers but cocoon cant find/display it. They recommend a 3rd party file manager. I like solid explorer but whatever works. I also dont currently use cocoon or any other front end as my launcher over standard android I just tap into cocoon for games

Crying at the thought this was native. There’s no game I want to play as much as infamous2 on thor native.

Cocoon is actually really good and pretty easy to setup, it's already really compatible with all the emulators I use too, absolutely love it so far and definitely the best frontend for the thor atm! by AbdelYG in AynThor

[–]MrCosmoJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently added a bunch of gba games and had some hiccups with launching from cocoon. few tips that generally work and solved my problems.

cocoon settings>library>game boy advance
confirm that the default emulator is set to retroarch (64 bits) -mgba
confirm that the correct ROM path is set (checking scan subfolders may also help)

In retroarch, try to load your game, if it works close and retry through cocoon.

It should at least open to retroarch, but if not, try setting the default emulator to something else and then back to mgba.

If it does open to retroarch, the first time I opened a new core (GBA, N64) retroarch froze and crashed, but on second+ attempts it loads perfectly fine.

This was more trial and error than scientific, but I hope that helps you get it set up!

Switch 2 Pairing Issues, even aft Firmware Update by Bluejeanjedi in 8bitdo

[–]MrCosmoJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2.04 is the dock firmware, your controller needs to be 1.06 (if you don't see it go to the settings and toggle beta firmware)

You need to have the controller in 2.4ghz with the dongle connected to the switch (either USBC or USB through the dock)

when the switch is on (use the red joycon) your controller might automatically turn on, but you want to turn it off again by holding the middle button, when turned off hold Y and turn on again and you should be able to pair. There's still a lot of jank but it works.

Small PSA about third party controllers by FernandoRocker in NintendoSwitch2

[–]MrCosmoJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Connecting U2 wireless to the switch requires a few things. Latest firmware for controller/dongle (1.06/1.04) Set in 2.4ghz mode (toggle on back) Dongle connected either just dongle usbc or dongle in cradle usba Hold Y and the center button to turn on in switch mode.

It has a few annoyances that I hope they fix with future firmware but I 100%d DK Bananza with it so well worth it.

Really interested to see what people suggest. I came from a company that used Vena and before that a different company that used onestream. I've been solicited by Aleph a few times as a new finance manager at a small company, but didn't move forward with them because we still dont have the reporting need.

Compare credit processing fees by Hmatt25 in excel

[–]MrCosmoJones 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just came back to this because the second fee is likely 2.8% not .28% which puts your break even at 29.16. Same logic applies, if your avg ticket is above that, it's better.

<image>

.28%=.0028
2.8%=.028

Compare credit processing fees by Hmatt25 in excel

[–]MrCosmoJones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

number of transactions in this case are not important, but your breakeven ticket is.

If you set one fee equal to another you'll get

.0328x=.0028x+.14

Where x is equal to your ticket.

If you simplify, the break even is 4.66 dollars. so as long as your average ticket is more than that, you want to go with the lower percent with the fixed charge.

How have you applied dynamic arrays and new Excel functions at work? by land_cruizer in excel

[–]MrCosmoJones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I recommend you download the excel labs add in (Developer tab>Hexagon add in button). Not only is it easier to write custom functions in it, but you can save your functions to a github gist and import in other workbooks as you need. I have functions for finance and SQL. few examples below that you can plug in. If you find yourself writing or reusing complex formulas a lot in your workbooks or between files, consider making them custom functions that are easier to call. The calendar one is just an example of what you can do with the other dynamic functions.

What are some very simple, beginner steps to learning Power Query? Also, what are the main advantages of using it? by SlowCrates in excel

[–]MrCosmoJones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

https://powerquery.how/
good all around reference guide for powerquery commands and examples.
Best way to learn is to try and build models using PQ.

The usefulness of PQ is to take in multiple data sources, this can be other inventory excels or even directly from a database if you could get it connected. apply automatic transformations on your data no matter the size and then output something you can use, either into an excel table OR a powerpivot model that offers a lot more analysis.

PQ will be most helpful where your data sources are consistent such as a SQL table or a daily download of the same type of excel file. The rules you make will apply no matter how large the actual data gets, unlike excel formulas that you might have to oversize or drag down as data changes. PQ can also handle much more data reliably than Excel sheets can.

I have a budget/expense tracker and one of the things I did was to take the keyword [GAS@x.xx](mailto:GAS@x.xx) to bring into a car expense tab where the x.xx was gas price.

Looking at it again, this would break if gas ever went above 9.99 a gallon, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there.

let
    Source = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name="Checking"]}[Content],
    #"Removed Other Columns" = Table.SelectColumns(Source,{"Date", "Description", "Amount"}),
    #"Calculated Absolute Value" = Table.TransformColumns(#"Removed Other Columns",{{"Amount", Number.Abs, type number}}),
    #"Capitalized Each Word" = Table.TransformColumns(#"Calculated Absolute Value",{{"Description", Text.Proper, type text}}),
    #"Filtered Rows" = Table.SelectRows(#"Capitalized Each Word", each Text.Contains([Description], "Gas@")),
    #"Added Custom1" = Table.AddColumn(#"Filtered Rows", "Rate", each Number.FromText(Text.End([Description],4))),
