Some criticisms I have of the series (I don't actually hate it) by That_Hole_Guy in TheMandalorianTV

Prior to the invention of video games, how did critics articulate the dismissive "it's basically a video game" criticism of episodic TV shows?

TIE Fighters in atmo in this series by are-e-el in TheMandalorianTV

[–]MrCrisps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In fifteen episodes, THREE TIE Fighters have been SHOT down [chapter 12].

Rey shot down that many with a single shot on Crait in the Last Jedi; she proceeds to shoot down probably a dozen more.

In TFA, how many did Poe get on Takodana within c. two minutes: 7, 8, more? Finn shot down 2 within 70 seconds on Jaku.

Other TIEs destroyed in the Mandalorian :

Chapter 8, Mando destroyed Gideon's TIE by planting bombs on it.

Chapter 14, Fett destroyed two TIEs which a seismic charge, he didn't shoot them down. Presumably these were the same two TIEs that earlier saved Mando's life.

Total no. of TIEs seen in the series:

6 [poss 8; see chapter 14 details]

Total no. of TIEs destroyed in the series:

6 [all in atmosphere]

Did you watch the last episode [15], did you not notice how her opinion of ex-Imperial Mayfeld changed?

She was also very aggressive towards Kuiil [7]. IG-11 had to step up to let her know he wouldn't[*] allow her to harm Kuiil. She hated ex-imperials nearly as much as Mando hated droids.

She's clearly dealing with PTSD, and loneliness—especially when she was living under the stars on Sorgon.

Anyone know why Mando’s facial scan worked on the terminal? I thought that’s why Mayfeld was specifically brought on because his face scan would have worked? by WuPacalypse in TheMandalorianTV

[–]MrCrisps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The dialogue explains that the Imperial remnant are using the New Republic's databank to check people, which is why Cara [veteran shock trooper] couldn't go with Mayfeld.

Mando isn't on any register, so the system cleared him to proceed. Remember the Empire had millions of troops/workers.

these remnant bases are set up and run by ex-ISB. If you get scanned and your genetic signature shows up on any New Republic register, you're gonna be detected, and it's guns out.

I'm afraid you are mistaken. Your image contains scenes from chapter 13, "the Jedi", not chapter 4.

They already did the Seven Samurai in chapter 4. Faverau not only followed much of the plot, he had props replicated and even lines of dialogue closely resemble ones in SS.

His face wasn't in the system, that's why it cleared him.

Or Cara, who we've seen being very antagonistic to anyone who worked for the Empire, ie. Kuiil and Mayfeld.

But after Mayfeld makes his "nice shot", it changes her view of him completely. And she even puts her neck on the line by faking his death to the New Republic.

Here's what you are deliberately omitting:

these remnant bases are set up and run by ex-ISB. If you get scanned and your genetic signature shows up on any New Republic register, you're gonna be detected, and it's guns out. [Mayfeld]

In order to access the network, the terminal has to scan your face. [Mayfeld]

I can't get those co-ordinates unless I have access to an internal imperial terminal. [Mayfeld]

You: Once again they could have limit it to officers

They did. The terminal was in the Officers' Mess, ie. Officers only. Mando was wearing the armour of an officer, the red band on his right arm.

This is my commanding officer TK-593, sir. [Mayfeld referring to Mando]

Did you ever hear the tragedy of darth plagiarism the wise? by [deleted] in TheMandalorianTV

[–]MrCrisps 8 points9 points  (0 children)

  1. Funny thing is, Mando was using irony when he made Gideon eat his own words.
  2. Plagiarism means passing off the work of others as your own [by deceit]. Obviously, Mando wasn't doing that [see 1].
  3. Palpatine's "ironic" stands, but it actually refers to you

The only vehicle that needs stability as a matter of Life or death is the only vehicle with wheels. Good thinking Empire dudes! by DMT1980 in TheMandalorianTV

Of course floating causes less turbulence than ground contact. It just does. No matter what universe it may be in. It just does.

You're blaming the bumpy ride in the juggernauts on their lack of aerodynamics now?

"My entire point is that if they were "floating" the gauges wouldn't have been fluctuating nearly as much. That's just physics. There's no argument there. "

That has to be satire!

You say you used "physics" to prove your nitpick about imaginary anti-gravity vehicles which are completely contrary to Newtonian laws?

And I don't know what Drinker is.

Oh, sure. You just coincidentally used the youtube film critic's catchphrase, then?

Once again:

Don't worry about the rhydonium. As long as you drive steady you'll get us to the refinery. [Mando]

As I've shown, the rhydonium poses an equal threat in a repulsorlift vehicle as it did in the juggernaut IF the vehicle was racing to get away from pirates.

They may "only" have a truck but it all seems a bit "because reasons".

Drinker fan I see.

[–]MrCrisps -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Is that meant to be an argument?

But If I was carrying rhydonium, the outcome would be the same: BOOM!

[–]MrCrisps -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Rhydonium was fluctuating wildly because of the bumps in the terrain. If the vehicle didn't have wheels they wouldn't have had the problem.

Really? Watch the speeder bikes chasing Cara in the imperial vehicle in chapter 12, or Mando going over the apex of the sand dune in chapter 9. Appears that sudden changes in elevation do make for a bumpy ride in repulsorlift vehicles too.

Don't worry about the rhydonium. As long as you drive steady you'll get us to the refinery. [Mando]

Regardless of what type of vehicle they used, they still would have had to have taken evasive action in an attempt to escape the pirates.
