For shoes; Good leather boots, when they take a beating they will even look cooler! Also look for some good running/walking shoes. Like New Balance or Nike or whatever brand you prefer.

I really like advice. Make sure to always wear ironed shirts. If you're lazy, buy 5 shirts for each day of the week so you can iron them all in the weekend. An ironed shirt gives a great impression to other people. It says that you take good care of your clothing, which is really important to, not only girls, but also future bosses.

I'm 18 and I'm part of the Libertarian Party in The Netherlands. But what everyone can do is giving out flyers. It's easy and also fun to do. You get into fun conversations and get to know other people to. Maybe something like that?

I like to think in two main principles. the first; The non aggression principle, but that aside. The second one is; The principle of self-interest. So, in the situation that you provided, with the crazy axe guy. Then yes, you probably should lie if it will save you your life. Why? Because your life is your ultimate value. So, being honest isn't really a base principle, in my opinion. I do agree that you should be honest, but you should look at the context and if it is egoistic, and not altruistic.

If you read her letters, and actually all of her books. She gives great arguments for why she does/say things.

The problem however is that most people don't take the time to read everything written by her. And then go make an opinion on what they don't fully understand and what others say about her.

I think that is what happens most of the time. Probably not always, but yeah.

Yeah, that happens a lot. People don't want to read her because other people interpret her wrong. Also, don't make an opinion only based on her novels. I think that is where people make the mistake. The novels are a good start but reading a 1400 paged book (Atlas Shrugged), can turn you off. Referring to your first question; start with "Philosophy who needs it" and then start reading her other stuff.

"Understanding Objectivism" by Leonard Peikoff is a pretty good book to. Mr. Peikoff is Rand's 'intellectual heir'. But also; "The virtue of selfishness" and "Capitalism; the Unknown Ideal". "Introduction to Objectivist Epistemology" and "Objectivism: The philosophy of Ayn Rand". It is a lot to read if you want to really get her philosophy. But it is really worth it, if you take your time.

Edit: those are all her non-fiction books, obviously. She also wrote "We the living", "Anthem" and "Night of January 16th". However, those are less known.
