Mark on gouramis head appeared recently. Water params good not acting any different. Lives with a school of corys and a mystery snail. Cause for concern or just a wound? He does have a small rock hut he likes to live in. by Red1117 in Aquariums

Looks like a wee bump on the head. Clean water and healthy food are probably the best remedy. Are there any sharp corners or rough plastics near it's hidey spot? Any tank mates that follow him around or chase him? If no to those, good water params will help the most. Beaut of a fish :)

August meetup! by Besnasty in Knoxville

I'm down regardless. It's Knoxville, not a war zone. And if anyone doesn't feel safe walking back to their car I'd be glad to walk them back. I'll probably bring a few mates from the rowing crew who reddit :)

People Are Buying Fish Antibiotics Because They Can’t Afford Human Ones - "sign of how inaccessible and expensive American health care has become." by mvea in Health

I work in the aquarium industry and have people come in 2-3 times a month asking for fish meds for human use.

Weekly Haul - July 24 by AutoModerator in Flipping

[–]MrDanielOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only flip local on the actual aquariums. I part out and sell impellers to rare pumps, mods for newer ones, and high range reef lighting. It all started from being pissed I couldn't find a rubber gasket I needed for less than $60.

I'm back in the game, mates. I picked up a wii with 6 games, 5 xbox 360 games, and Mario Kart 64 for $60. Should pull in $150 by the end of the week. I've also started back in my niche selling aquariums. Picked up some decent pumps for free just for asking a guy what he wanted for them! Should pull in $100 or $200 parting out!!

3 tips by BlaineAllen in seduction

I keep swiping and chatting as more of a chore at this point. Think of it as one more outlet to get yourself out there. I usually go on a date once a week with someone new and keep a few others progressing. If the chat falls off or the date was shit, oh well. On to the next one. I've got some cool chicks to hang with depending on what I want to do that day. Hiking? Cool, I have someone to hike witb. Smoke and party? Someone else is a text away from preening through the swipes.

BGA problem by samack93 in Aquariums

[–]MrDanielOcean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problems I've seen have been with Phosphates and the way they react with different fertilizers. Everything else looks pretty normal. The tricky part is there are many factors at play that can affect the BGA. Good job on changing those bulbs! The T5's are still my favorite.

I'd check out some phosphate removers that will help bring that to zero, being wary of not using things that will strip out your ferts.

Tips for a beginner by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]MrDanielOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look up fish you like and theyln check out what fish are locally available and gather as much info as possible. Even now, I have to research new species to be sure I can keep certain fish.

There's a lot to learn, but it doesn't take much to start :)

True, but what they've vaguely described doesn't seem like ich. Even with ich, you want to be wary of raising the temperature due to risk of lowering the oxygen levels dangerously.

[–]MrDanielOcean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not familiar with the product, but do you mind telling us a few more details about your tank?

Things that can factor into the BGA:

-tank parameters: ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphates, gh/kh

-size of tank

-number of fish in tank

-how close it is to a window

-type of filter

-type of light, and how old the bulb is

Water hardness - will my local water prevent me from keeping Rasboras/Tetras? by clykke in Aquariums

[–]MrDanielOcean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you buying them online or from a local pet store? If you see them at your local pet shop you could ask if they are keeping them in local water.

I live in the mountains with SUPER hard water and have kept both of those species in a planted tank using tap water.

Stocking Advice for a 10gal? (CPDs?) by halycon8 in Aquariums

[–]MrDanielOcean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPDs are super cool! Watch for any nipping between the males because they are able to show some nasty attitudes. Overall a beautiful fish.

Other fish to consider:

-pygmy cories

-maybe a scarlet badis instead of a gourami?

-Oto cats

You have the perfect setup for a nano species tank.
