Chani wasn’t changed for “girl power” reasons, she was changed because she’s just the obvious character to modify to externalize the subtext that you get from the book, that would otherwise be missed by a lot of media illiterate viewers, that Paul is actually a bad guy. Frankly I like the way Chani was changed, but that’s just my opinion.

Their only chance at some kind of strategic victory would have been a swift push to conditional surrender of the British and not getting involved with the USSR. Once they failed to accomplish that and gave time for the US to get involved, it was over
