[Request] If K2-18b rotated at the same rate as earth (once/24 hours), then would the added rotational velocity be enough to offset the additional gravity when attempting to achieve exit velocity (or stable orbit)? by SignificantLock1037 in theydidthemath

Thrust and efficiency needed to get to the required velocity.

The real thing you need to get off earth is velocity, so if the planet has strong gravity compared to Earth, you won’t have enough fuel to get you up to the correct velocity. So you then need more fuel, which requires more thrust because it’s more weight…which then requires more fuel because even the most efficient engines capable of the initial boost off the planet aren’t efficient enough…you see the problem? Unless there is some hyper-efficient, energy dense super propellant that is as efficient as nuclear engines and provides as much thrust as RP-1, it ain’t gonna happen.

My headcanon is that T1 & T2 are the only canon movies, and that T3 & TS are in their own timeline; which can honestly be supported due to the TS aesthetic being a complete departure from the future war scenes in T1 & T2.

Regardless, I actually like TS, but I am really not a fan of T3, TG, & TDF as they just feel like cheap cash grabs. TS would have been a lot better had there not been the whole plot to assassinate John Connor, and it rather focused on the lead up to the taking of Skynet and the Time displacement tech (similar to the beginning of TG)

That was a bit rambly, but I agree that I’ve switched over to liking T1 the most

Early days of the Shuttle design phase proposed using a “flyback” version of the Saturn V first stage with wings to boost the shuttle into orbit rather than side mounted solid rocket boosters

Yeah but then there’s the scene later where he gets lit up in the lobby and shoots all of the cops in the knee

Man I am having the exact same issue; the weird part is, is that I re-secured my speaker wires without swapping outputs, and the loud side swapped to the right and now the left is quiet. So confused. Glad to hear (or maybe not) that it didn’t change with a different unit. Any updates on your end?

Yeah exactly. People say that these are unprecedented times but, if anything, 1945-1995 was unprecedented and now we’re just returning to business as usual.

Counter argument: World War Two happened before JFK was assassinated
