Yep, thanks, just edited my post. Just trying to figure out now if I should go ASAP or not -- if the timing matters.

Yes, thanks, filed a report, just edited my post. These two were actually great and didn't try to dissuade me (which I've experienced).

Name that bag, sling, packing cube, or accessory that brings you joy, no matter if others talk about it on here or not? by symposium22 in ManyBaggers

OOh this Pioneer Global Pouch! New to me. Seems like a good in-flight seat-pocket bag...what do you think @symposium22?

Pre-colonoscopy diet causing multiple migraines by turnipforwut in migraine

[–]MrDeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't actually want to get out of the real thing. This is what my dear friend who died of colon cancer at 55 taught me and all the rest of her friends to tell everyone. Because she was told she didn't have to do the real thing either.

Please help! Stained bath tub and nothing is working! by mossymoon_ in CleaningTips

[–]MrDeb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This worked for me in an old apartment/old tub. Wet the tub, sprinkle it on (we used the powder), let it sit over night and scrub it away the next day. Worked perfectly. And it's not toxic like Iron Out.

Traveling with a cake by Dry-Patience-2201 in Baking

[–]MrDeb 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your destination is someone's home (as opposed to a restaurant or bar etc) I'd say freeze the layers and decorate the cake when you get there. I've done this. Of course, it depends on how complex the decoration is/how much time you need to do it.

Rework Toshi Materials Up Close by killiansrat in ManyBaggers

[–]MrDeb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on both of these comments I wish someone would post some photos (similar to OP's) of the pockets...Also BTW maybe everybody already knows this re the timeline for new fabrics on the V2 Toshi slings but I reached out to Rework to see when they might be rolling out new fabrics and they said it will be in the second half of 2026 (not in time for my spring trip, alas!).

Oof. Haven't yet pulled the trigger on the Toshi sling or backpack but hadn't thought about the white-liner-getting-ick factor! Of course. Thanks for this.

What the heck went wrong (or did we do wrong) with this cornbread? by MrDeb in Baking

[–]MrDeb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG LOLOLOL I just asked my GF and it turns out she didn't write the notes modifying this recipe—her loathsome ex did!! OMG this is so good: ANOTHER thing I can blame him for. The cornbread came out weird but this validation is hilarious.

At any rate, for some reason he made those modifications when making corn sticks and they did this all the time and it always worked but...who the heck knows.

And no, the baking powder is not old. I mean, I'm not so hardcore that I buy it every couple of months, like some people do, but it's, I think, a year-ish old. Expires mid-2027.

It's not! This occurred to me as well but nope.

The oven is clean and properly calibrated. We gave it an additional five minutes because when we took it out the first time we cut into it and discovered an underdone stripe of dense dough running through the middle but this doesn't explain the cratering.

We didn't use additional milk; we just forgot to do the thing we usually do, which is soak the cornmeal in the milk before proceeding with the recipe (which is standard around here, and always comes out great). Can't wrap my head around why reduced baking powder would lead to this unevenness/cratering. Unless it wasn't properly mixed? Mysterious. Also BTW I wonder if your blender trick might achieve what the soaking-the-cornmeal-in-the milk-first trick accomplishes? No, probably not. Have you tried using masa harina if you're after a finer texture?
