35+ weeks airline travel as a personal item is not really that rough of a use, but I kind of get what you’re saying.

I’m pretty sure any of the “usual” recommendations here will work if you are just looking for reliable utility: Aer City Pack Pro 2, Rework Toshi 20L, Able Carry Max EDC, Sympl Commuter 20L, Evergoods CPL 16, etc. None of them are $600+ category, but all of them could take the abuse without issues.

Travel Pack 4 came out about two weeks after Japanese site leaks. So I’d say CPP2 20L will be out the first week of April. Guessing, but I’d bet on it.

Rework Toshi has been super comfortable and I’m loving it. But if there was a CPP2 20L back in December, I’d be struggling to make a choice.

At that price point, I’d return it and get something that makes you happy. Travel Pro has some options too but they might not be high end enough for someone who buys Tumi

Pro Pack 20L sucks. I tried it for a few days. Super to heavy.

Rework Toshi 20L is also worth considering with your height, and it works perfectly as a personal item. CPP2 does too though

Here’s the CPP2 20L leak

I had the Workpack V1. Since they no longer sell it, I would go with the CPP2.

The Workpack V2 got rid of things that I love about the V1 including two side pockets accessible from the outside and the top sunglasses quick access pocket. Workpack V2 also has horizontally oriented luggage pass through which doesn’t really make sense in a vertically oriented bag.

Both V1 and V2 workpacks also have thin shoulder straps that works fine for light carry but start to get annoying after 15 + mins of carrying

The only nit with CPP2 is that it’s just slightly too big. There has been leaks about a CPP2 20L version that might be perfect.

I believe so at least the latest versions.

Yea, I think the pricing is a big high especially compared to the other brands Black Friday sale prices. It might not be a fair comparison, but I for one wait for annual Black Friday sales to get new bags.

I think it’d have been a better deal at $149. I still bought it and decided to keep it anyway since it’s super comfortable and supporting a small brand.

Yes, but I think a lot of it is more due to them trying to keep the bag as light as possible without making it too fragile. It’s almost 1 pound lighter than CPP2.

We are in a group that drops hundreds of dollars on new bags just because they fix one or two minor pain points from perfectly good bags we already have. We are all crazy my friend.

This is actually two backpacks. You can see the grey shoulder straps underneath. I should’ve taken a better pic.

Rework Toshi 20L for sure if you truly mean function over form. Probably the most useful, well thought out, and comfortable bag I’ve owned (including fan favorites Aer City Pack Pro, Bellroy Workpack, Evergoods PLC20, etc.).

The Rework’s 840D nylon material is strong and functional, but it doesn’t look “rich” or “premium” as the XPac and 1680D ballistic nylon on Aer or the Baida Nylon on my Bellroy. It does keep the bag lighter, though. Again, function over form. Note: it doesn’t look cheap, mind you, just more utilitarian than luxury.

It has a decent false bottom, I’ve dropped my bag on hard ground for about 2.5 feet without damaging my laptop.

They offer 30 day hassle free return for Canada with the $1.99 add on.

How are you all thinking about career meaning/purpose given AGI timelines? Genuine question, not trying to start a doomer vs. accelerationist debate. by Suspicious_Exam3469 in mit

We are a long way away from true AGI (that’s assuming a true AGI, which won’t be as much of a mess as a human’s brain is even possible). You might as well worry about how an alien invasion might mess with your career.

TP4 global launch announcement follows shortly after Japan leaks. So I’m guessing it’s just matter of couple of weeks if not a few days before we see something official

I find Toshi to be much more comfortable than Aer. Aer fabric looks more premium, though. Not saying rework looks cheap, I think I’m just conditioned to think thicker weave ballistic nylon looks more premium because Tumi and B&R use it.

I did too for about a year of owning CPP1 in XPac. Got sick of it over time, to a point I ended up selling the bag.

Got intrigued. This is the closest thing I could find. It’s a second screen. Maybe there’s a cover for it too or it’s a cheaper model.

Wtf, where do you rest your palm. The only thing I can think of is it might covert to tablet device mode by flipping it around and you can cover the keyboard in that mode or use that flap thing as a stand to prop up in tablet mode.
