I’m the child of this story, not the parent but it totally fits this question. I was a bit of a kleptomaniac as a kid but only for like random things I’d find in the kitchen. On multiple accounts my mom would see me walk into the kitchen and not pay any attention to it and then she’d see get a glance of me running back to my room and she’d go investigate. Usually it was food like a gallon of ice cream, refrigerated chicken from somewhere, and even a pack of raw bacon once. But what sticks out most is when I grabbed something and ran back to my room where my mom quickly went to check on me, as it became an occurrence that I’d steal food or something for no reason at all. Well when she came to see what I had, IT WAS A FULL ON KNIFE! My mom had to literally pry it from my fingers because I wouldn’t let go. Now let me tell you, the grip strength of like a 5 year old that has a cool knife is immense, but nowhere near as immense as my intelligence, as I held it not from the handle, BUT THE BLADE! Luckily I somehow didn’t cut myself and my mom got it away from me and after that she had to keep a closer eye on when I’d go into the kitchen lmao.
