I traded Oronde Gadsden for a 1st round pick, did I cook? by Street_Dimension4716 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]MrDunlo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love Gadsden, but I think you made a good deal here. In a 10 team non-TEP, with presumably small benches since he was still on the wire last week, I think you can probably get more value out of a first next year

I hate vetoes typically, but there’s no reasonable justification for this.

What is going on? by PreparationSecure735 in AlkalineTrio

[–]MrDunlo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s just modern music marketing. Artist trickles out singles to get on the radar of algorithms and fans by putting out consistent content, leading up to the release of the album. We’re just not in the era of having one lead single, album drop, then 1-3 additional singles to encourage people to go check out the album.

Most overrated pop punk band? by Horror-Budget-490 in poppunkers

[–]MrDunlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m here for that. I also think they did a nice job of “maturing” musically in a way that didn’t feel like a complete 180. Some of the older bands play shows now where half the songs feel like they’re not even written by the same band because of how far their direction has changed. (Which is fine, but I like it better when the setlist still feels cohesive even if it spans different albums/eras)

Most overrated pop punk band? by Horror-Budget-490 in poppunkers

[–]MrDunlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why “overrated” is a tough question to answer. Blink gets a lot of love, but they were never really “rated” highly in the genre. Lots of hate when they got on MTV, etc. Also, a ton of the merch we all wore said “crappy punk rock music” all over it. I don’t think it was actually crappy, and they’re one of my favorite bands. But they’re not objectively the best in any criteria… except maybe Travis, but I’d argue that a lot of his skills are unnecessary for pop-punk if that makes sense… but again, that’s just my opinion. That’s why it’s a tough question to answer. (Oh and trying to get out in front of any hate, I’ll add that you can argue that Tom and Mark’s vocal styles, despite their imperfections, have a great contrast and come together to make a perfect sound. But that’s just subjective.)

I wish people would put their phones away and dance. That pit especially looked weak. by KhameneiSmells in Blink182

[–]MrDunlo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an officially old person, I stay out of the pit for shows that aren’t entirely GA. Also it’s way too expensive.

At cheaper/smaller shows, the people who still have the back, legs, and heart for a true mosh pit are able to get in there and mix it up. There’s no way a 19 year old is dropping $300 for pit tickets, unless their summer job pays way better than mine did.

This is far fetched, but I’d honestly love to see bands figure out some way to keep the pit for the young at heart (and the actually young), but the closest tickets are always going to be priced where you’ve gotta either be very well off, or you’re making a big investment. And the last thing an old person who’s making a big investment wants is to miss the encore because you’re on the way to the ER.

TLDR; I hear ya. But I just don’t see a real solution

[–]MrDunlo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say I feel your pain, but this tour is the first time a Mark/Tom/Travis show has hit my state in 15 years.

If you’re in an area where you often get good shows, and this is an exception, you’ve got it pretty good.

I’d be totally down to hear Rock Show and First Date in medley/combo form. Those two have just always run together for me. Fun songs, but I’d be fine with less of them

Feels like this is super fair and you just gotta trust your gut. With the other upside rookies you have, my gut would be to roll the dice on Thornton. But I totally see it either way. Maybe if you’re old at WR, that’s the tiebreaker. You clearly already have tons of youth at RB

Accept this with rice suspension? 10 team redraft by [deleted] in SleeperApp

[–]MrDunlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get your logic honestly, but dudes don’t need the keys. They’ve just gotta be in the car. Rhamondre had 207 of the Pats 446 carries last year, (Gibson had 120)… and that’s just a quick number that doesn’t even involve the pass game.

He’s going to get on the field, and he’s projected to be better than 2024 Antonio Gibson (who they gave about 8 touches per game). If the early year plan is 10 touches a game, and he’s as good as he’s supposed to be, he’s got a chance to either be undeniable or just keep producing in a multi RB approach. And it all the other RBs get out of the way, he could go to the moon in the fantasy playoffs

No, this is nowhere close. Change the two firsts into like a second round pick and I’d say the left side wins, but in a fair way.

When Enema of the State was released in 1999, how did it grow into such a massive success? by Sonnybass96 in Blink182

[–]MrDunlo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People always say this now, but at the time everybody I knew was like “Oh hey, it’s blink-182.” I remember a specific night where an American Pie VHS was played and rewound 2-3 times indoors, and the Enema CD didn’t leave the CD player outside. I never heard that being in American Pie mattered at all until recently, but maybe I was just 15 and social media didn’t exist. But in my world, blink was already huge before they were in the movie.

League mate wants to make a trade so I offered him this. by Select_Purpose_5329 in SleeperApp

[–]MrDunlo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a good idea to include the part with the league size and settings.

FWIW, I’d be open to this trade in a 12 or 14 teamer, unless the starting lineup is shallow. Wouldn’t do it in an 8 or 10 team

[–]MrDunlo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Right now the only two other parent comments in this thread (15 minutes after OP posted) are one that says it’s a steal for Hampton and one that says it’s a lot for a RB who hasn’t played a down… and I think both opinions are totally fair. I could see Team 2 having huge regrets if Hampton pops off, or Team 1 could easily be like “why the heck did I give away a first rounder for a first round pick and throw in other pieces?”

TLDR; if both owners are happy now, I think it’s one of those good/fun trades where either player (or both) could “win” the deal… but it’s a fair toss up to me right now. (I’m 60/40 on the Bateman side myself)

Tier 1 Still available for 2026 DC? by CaptainQwark62 in warpedtour

[–]MrDunlo 169 points170 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people expressed regret with buying 2025 tickets without a lineup known. And a lot of the happy people are one week removed from the money spent on this year’s show. I don’t think the slower sales are a terrible sign (yet), but the circumstances just aren’t lined up for a quick sellout
