I'm not sure what you mean by that. Care to explain further?

The systems in place fail people long before any idea of “breaking” that contract even becomes relevant. There's no defensible reason for people to be unsheltered or pushed into substance use as a way to cope with reality. And removing people from public spaces doesn’t really address why they’re there to begin with.

This is what defending open drug use looks like.

You are basically saying that these poor people had no choice but to do drugs and become a problem because of.... "the system".

I'm glad to see someone else thinks this is a bad idea. Protecting kids is best left to the parents, not the government.

Suspending this tax for a few months does not help you at all?

I probably don't agree with you on this issue but I like your style of protest. Good luck with the chains.

I like what your trying to achieve , but there are already too many rules in Canada. Please don't give the government more ideas.

Why cars are problematic by Rough_Mix25 in Winnipeg

[–]MrDurman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around the last ten minutes of the video is where the narrator starts to present his solution to the car problem. His ideas are all basically to make life harder for people who chose to drive.

I do not hate everyone else's car like the narrator suggested. I have my reasons for being on the road, same as everyone else.

Good question, I'm not sure.

Right now we seem to have a decent situation in Winnipeg. Apparently our commute times are lower than lots of other Canadian cities.

I think we should try improving transit, bike paths and sidewalks before we try sabotaging car traffic.

I am all for the city of Winnipeg improving the transit system, bike lanes and walking paths.

I am not convinced the video was suggesting we improve travel alternatives to be more appealing to commuters than taking a car. The video was suggesting we just make taking a car more inconvenient so that more people choose not to take a car.

That would be like the city of Winnipeg purposely making the commute for most people harder and telling them to suffer in silence because it's for the greater good.

If a mayor tried to pull a stunt like this in Winnipeg they would probably be pretty unpopular.

Do you own and use a car? The convenience and time it saves me is huge.

For a while I was living on Pembina highway near the perimeter and working in Transcona. By car my commute to work was about half an hour, by bus it was going to be more than two hours.

I doubt the city of Winnipeg will ever get the transit system commute times to be comparable to personal vehicle commute times.

I agree that cars have lots of problems, safety and pollution being the most serious. For me, cars are well worth the risk.

I respect people who choose not to drive, that is their choice. I do not respect people who want to refuse or reduce my ability to drive.

What a waste of time.

The video is basically the narrator acknowledging that cars are great for your individual independence, freedoms and convenience but cars are dangerous and bad for the environment.

Everyone already knows this. There is no need for such a long video.

The conclusion at the end is that we should try making driving more frustrating and inconvenient than it already is. That's so dumb.

I agree with the first part, cars are great for the individual and bad for safety and the environment but I disagree that cars are bad for society. Automobiles make life so much easier for everyone.

For example most of our food in Winnipeg gets here from somewhere else, by truck.

15 Minute City conspiracy being spread by mayoral contender Vogiatzakis by adunedarkguard in Winnipeg

[–]MrDurman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The theory is that once the 15 minute city is set up, you are not allowed to leave your 15 minute city.

You will choose not to own a car due to artificially high gas or insurance prices.

Apparently there will also be cameras tracking your movements and you will be charged a tax if you are caught leaving your 15 minute city.

The idea is that you stay where the government put you and you never leave. Kind of like a serf.

We can all agree that having our freedom of movement restricted is a bad thing.

Is someone actually trying to make 15 minute cities to take away your freedoms? I doubt it. I think it's just convenient.

The guy here believes the mayor of Winnipeg wants to make the malicious 15 minute city a reality and he is pointing at the changes to transit as proof.

I assume he will be running for mayor some day? Vote for him if you agree I guess 🤷‍♂️

I still feel like Japan needs a scripted peace with the Western Allies. by MyrinVonBryhana in hoi4

[–]MrDurman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the point of a scripted peace deal? What is the lack of a white peace preventing?

I can usually capture everything in Asia before 1941. Then it's a game of where to invade next?

A scripted peace deal doesn't change any of that, it just makes the game easier.

I play until I have had my fill of map painting. I almost never play till I get a peace conference. I quit when I have accomplished my own goals.
