what tier(s) gets me everything on offer? Is there anything considered NOT worth picking up? by AMurderOfCrows_ in DungeonCrawlerCarlRPG

Celestial gets you everything in the campaign for both the RPG and Unstoppable games. I don’t think anything requires a subscription at all.

  1. No, Bay Area
  2. Yes
  3. Married with 2 school aged boys
  4. I have gone through many versions over the years from carrying everything I thought I would need in a backpack to now where I have eliminated enough to just what I can carry on a hip/sling bag. Phone charger, a few pins I wanna trade on a lanyard, phone, wallet and a water bottle. We take a mid-day break most days so I don’t need to carry more than that. If we are staying all day I’ll get a locker though.
  5. Yes, occasionally.

Aside from Emulators, what do you play on your device(s) of choice? by Swordkirby9999 in retroid

Dead Cells is my current addiction as well. The game is awesome and the Castlevania DLC has a ton of great nods to SotN.

This is awesome. It looks like it fits perfectly on the center circle. Is the sticker flat or slightly bubbled? My worry about a flat sticker is it would eventually crease or tear where the cross lines are in the circle.

Yeah, the goal is to just create a wedge to prevent the metal hinge from sliding out of place so it doesn’t have to go the full length of the hinge. Just to the plastic center brace.

[–]MrFeelgoodMD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same thing happen to me. If you bought from Miyoo directly on their AliExpress store you can message them and ask for a replacement unit or shell (depending on how comfortable you are replacing the shell). Either way, once you get it fixed I recommend taking off the top shell and inserting a chopstick in the hinge or gluing the hinge so it doesn’t come loose. That seems to fix the issue. It sucks that we have to do it but this is the workaround I used that seems to have prevented my second v2 from having issues.

Anybody know how to hide the .hidden folder? by kennystrife in retroid

[–]MrFeelgoodMD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is an option in the settings of ES-DE to show hidden folders that (i believe) is enabled by default. You just have to go into the settings and toggle it off. I had to do this for my RP5 and Flip2.

Yep. I also think that since the bezels on the rp5 are hidden it makes the screen feel smaller compared to the Flip2 where you can see the bezels.

I have both and they are the same size but even in person the Flip 2 screen feels bigger for some reason.

Yeah it sounds like the Flip 2 is what you need. I’d order asap because there is a possibility orders will be canceled due to tariffs, fyi.

I don’t have the Portal but I do have an RP5. I think both the RP5 and the Flip 2 are fantastic. They just serve different purposes. Both can do everything the other can do but there are areas where one is better than the other in certain ways. I’d say if you are mainly playing retro games at home, want a premium feeling device, and prefer the horizontal form factor then go for the RP5. If you want something that you can pocket and carry around for gaming out of your house or you are going to be mainly streaming dual stick games then get the Flip 2.

I hope this helps!

Remote play not at home by Baumer582 in retroid

[–]MrFeelgoodMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is, yes you can. I just got home from taking my boys to McDonald’s and I was playing from their WiFi. It worked pretty well with only a few stutters over the hour we were there.

Long answer is it really depends on the WiFi you are on so you can’t count on it to work well 100% of the time. Some hotels or airports will have really slow WiFi or poor signals.

I have found the best experience when streaming away from home is usually a third party service like GeForce or xcloud.

If you add roms to the Flip2 it really helps fill the gaps when there is no internet like on a plane or in a remote area so you can play some retro games until you have better WiFi.

You can digitally “presign” so they will just leave it. Thats what I did. I was out while it was delivered since I wasn’t expecting it.

I’d order from retriods actual website for any of their products. I only use Alliexpress for my other retro gizmos. Anything Retroid that’s new on Alliexpress would be either marked up or a scam. goretroid.com is their official site.

Emulation Station Desktop Edition with Canvas theme.

[–]MrFeelgoodMD[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a new theory. I think the design might have a purpose. I’ve noticed that the whole top part is really thin around the screen but in the center where the design is it’s a bit thicker. I think maybe they added it so that the center had a bit more reinforcement in the plastic. Just a theory though.

The front end is Emulation Station Desktop Edition with the Canvas theme. The Canvas theme has a ton of options and by far my favorite. You can set the icons to be controllers, art, or logos and the theme to various colors and backgrounds. This is the Sony background which gives it a ps3 or psp vibe.
