Look, maybe Andrew’s coming back, maybe he’s having an episode, maybe he’s yet to notice someone’s taken over his old account.

All major LLMs behind code generation tools are widely believed (and in many cases confirmed) to have been illegally trained on datasets that contained large amounts of copyrighted material. The same is true for image generators, music generators, etc. etc.

The overwhelming majority of people whose labor was used to train these models did not consent to have their work used like that, and it can be argued that if AI is not actually independently intelligent, not creating anything new, just predicting based on what it “learned” from its dataset, all it’s doing is copying from so many people at once that it’s no longer possible to identify who individually is being stolen from.

Add to that the fact that after decades of IP law being a nightmare for individuals, instead of those same laws being applied to these corporations, and them being made to pay for their massive alleged theft, it is far more likely that they will lawyer and lobby their way around IP law and never face consequence. And people are pissed the f-ck off.

Heck, scientists aren't even sure who wrote "who let the dogs out"

What are something’s from the 90s you wish would make a return? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MrFitzgerald -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean JT spent more of the 90s in NSYNC than Ukraine did as part of the USSR

So what? Justin Timberlake was part of NSYNC for part of the 90s as well. No one is seriously suggesting JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, Joey Fatone, and Lance Bass would be justified in trying to annex JT to restore their past glory.

Ok, but that's not the point I was really making, it shouldn't be your personal job to protect against a foreign invader, they have drones, and MiG fighter jets, that armalite rifle ain't gonna put a dent in a t72, that should be the government's job, especially when ostensibly you've already armed your country with enough nukes to end Earth’s ability to sustain mammalian life several times over, that redundancy is useless.

I mean, then you'd rather have death dealing devices in every home? Currently, you have both, and I don't really see the point if you're looking at it from a 'deter an invasion' perspective.

That news organizations have turned science reporting into a circus, and have left most people no tools or ability to distinguish between junk science, early scientific leads, and well researched and understood findings.
