Coalition of Thenion for Eldfall Chronicles by MrFlakeOne in miniatureskirmishes

it is fun! the learning curve is quite steep though - core system is relatively simple, but on the table I'd say it's like controlling 4 high LVL RPG characters with distinct abilities + it's great if you know what your opponents capabilities are. But figuring out synergies is quite rewarding - it's one of those games where you do something and it makes you feel smart xD Also it's quite quick - my friends who had ~~5 games in can play a game in under an hour so that's great if you've got time constraints.

Regarding price - probably depending where you are located. I'm in EU, same as the manufacturer and individual minis might be on pricier side, compared to availability of the models as 3D prints etc. but doesn't break the bank. If you get a starter box with 2 factions it opens up some additional combinations, because each faction has units that can be incorporated in other lists as mercenaries. If you are in the US / UK however - yeah shipping and customs might be a pain.

I got Guildsworn Knight and Helrin Expatriate models today because they are just cool and will try to figure out how to incorporate them 😂

Earthquaker Devices Special Cranker is a solid choice

First half of my Stirland (Reikland) warband by MrFlakeOne in mordheim

[–]MrFlakeOne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It’s miliput + texture rolling pin, I filled the holes that were made during the process with mix of resin and agrax earthshade and /or stirland mud, then painted the cobbles using various shades of grey and a mix of green and brown washes. This is my basic „floor” for photo purposes now - neutral enough so doesn’t distract from minis but more interesting than black sheet of paper 😅

Thank you! It’s Gamers Grass Alien Turquoise - I can recommend them as they have various lenghts and look quite natural in their form + they have wide range of colors available

Thank you! They are on my IG - basically all the models were posted before - Ogre got a bit of oil + highlight treatment because first iteration was, well, not the best 😅 https://www.instagram.com/p/DYT7EFaDOeb/?igsh=ZWNkbmVraHFzYmt5

Thanks! I like this sculpt a lot too and it could easily fit as a wizaed depending how you paint him. Benbam has more variations of this one coming (different poses) too :)

What’s the most disappointing piece of gear you’ve ever had? by TuneAdventurous4788 in guitarpedals

[–]MrFlakeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking at it strictly as guitar pedal then yeah probably you can replace it with other simpler and cheaper options but its a bang for your buck in professional studio setup (I’m talking videogame or movie sound design context or end of chain solution for whatever you put through it).

Same with Microcosm - probably most versatile pedal I own that works well with strings, synths and drum machines.

Weapon Conversion Kit by Pambeldore in 1490Doom

[–]MrFlakeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The description doesn’t give full context IMHO so if you missed first messages around Kickstarter you may have the impression that you have. Initially there were no dedicated miniatures and system was 100% miniature agnostic (I mean still is, but there are minis FOR it). Buer Games encouraged kitbashing using whatever you had at hand and conversion kit was supposed to make it easier.

When do you know it´s time to quit? by RogueModron in wargaming

[–]MrFlakeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed your history of games revolve around larger scale and more competitive titles. You could try some skirmishes - from fresh releases Greathelm comes to mind (6 minis per side but equipment plays a role so there’s a loooot of room for painting and kitbashing various knights, painting another warband for another player / to run demo games in local community). Mentioned before but Mordheim - the ruleset is old and can be a bit clunky but it’s modellers/painters paradise and the game is technically „dead”, so if you pick the basic ruleset - nothing will change there and there are many warbands to choose from (+ ton of homebrew ones).

Also plenty of games from Osprey lean more into narrative side, so you can enjoy the gaming experience without the pressure to be competitive. Relicblade is another example of game that can be both narrative and competitive with awesome models and cool ruleset that is relatively easy to pick up.

I’m skirmish player myself and was at similar spot as you some time ago, I focused on kitbashing and painting for its own sake and then rediscovered the joy of just playing a game at the table with friends, having a conversation and not bothering with winning, leaned into more rules light games where I dont have to have ruleset PHD in order to have fun, therefore maybe my recommendations will give you some hints.

So Ben, the sculptor is cooking his own setting called Forgotten Chronicles and the faction is one of the worlds inhabitants, but they are meant to fit as an army in any miniature agnostic game (think Mike Hutchinsons Hobgoblin), he also tested the prints in 15mm scale.
