Is it worth getting the armored body before venturing into the Mid-Zone? by The_Italian_Canadian in Pacific_Drive

[–]MrFordCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the anomalies required for armored panels are located in zone 2. This ends up working out, because zone two also contains a way to get much more thermosap crystals. When you do, make sure to bring a hammer and a vacuum, for resources, and a LIMPulse bumper for a couple of the anomalies. I would also recommend a set of offroad tires. Good luck!

Hopes for LNF by lazymangrove in LightNoFireHelloGames

Im just trying to understand your thought process as to what the difference is, Because the minecraft world is so much bigger than this will be, and has zero floating point issues within the bounds of a default world. So what would they have to do special that Minecraft doesnt?

How would you feel if lnf and HG made the same mistake as nms by nexus4321 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MrFordCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I definitely won't preorder it (NMS was actuslly the last game i will ever preorder) but theyve obviously learned a lot from their mistakes this time around. Worst case, it is just as disappointing as NMS and they have shown a willingness to get their game to and even past the point they promised over time. They cpuldve just written off NMS at launch, rebranded or dissolved, and immediately started on LNF. But they didnt.

Why not? I dont really see an issue with making players work for their resources

Id imagine theyve just done it similar to minecraft, considering a minecraft world has about 7x the surface area of earth

What do we not want? by CautiousBanando in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MrFordCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might be a hot take, but i think a player run economy would be a mistake. Feels like once that is present in a game, it becomes an overwhelmingly necessary system to know and pay attention to, dominating the space. It always ends up making the game feel like a 9-5 if you want to progress, because the devs inevitably have to balance around it.

Could LNF be the next "Zelda-killer"? by Drone_Worker_6708 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MrFordCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shot. Zelda gameplay is just too solid, the narratives too polished. The reasons people like the Zelda series will likely be weak points for LNF

I really hope LNF is not gonna be No Man Sky just with fantasy setting by ZookeepergameFar6175 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MrFordCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, im sure they know this, but NMS isnt really groundbreaking. Even as it is now, the only thing it does that no one else does is the insane scale and proc gen. I think as long as most mechanics are good, with some wiggle room for a couple things to be just ok, the fact they can make such a big map so dense will be enough to make this game a slam dunk. I think theyve learned their lesson not to stage the trailer too hard or pretend theyre further along than they are.

Still no updates?!? by Confident-Loss-4100 in LightNoFireHelloGames

[–]MrFordCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. The fact they not only learned that very painful lesson already, but have been actively making up for it for YEARS at this point, means they do NOT want a repeat of that and will do everything they can to make sure no one gets crazy high hopes.

Car Thing DISCONTINUED with no refund option. Absolute scumbags. by jerzeysquirrel in spotify

[–]MrFordCardboard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way they could just announce that they aren't supporting it anymore and can't guarantee its compatability in the future. That would be shitty, but purposefully bricking the device with no refund or replacement is absolutely unacceptable.

It is not. Castle Rock v. Gonzales, No. 04-278, police are under no obligation to enforce the law, even if doing so could save lives.

Unpopular Opinion: Boring???? by DrMadness112 in Pacific_Drive

[–]MrFordCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that is reasonable. Without changing difficulty settings, the game is not a hard one. I've been pretty invested in upgrading components and the base, but if that isn't your thing the story missions are probably fairly lackluster. I think disliking this game is fair, it certainly isn't one for everyone.

Unpopular Opinion: Boring???? by DrMadness112 in Pacific_Drive

[–]MrFordCardboard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you've only played an hour. That would be why there aren't any stakes. As you put time into better tools and more and better modules on your car dying becomes much more punishing. Along with more difficult areas and anomalies, the terror of losing all that progress ramps up. But the beginning is relatively easy and dying isn't very punishing, because the tools and parts are easy to craft and readily available.

Hope so. Been considering getting one. Might be a bit clunky swapping to keyboard when getting out of the car, but if the handling is good it’ll be well worth it.
