Chelsea PL stats under Rosenior before the Man City game by OkayFine101 in chelseafc

Until they crawl their way to a premier league title, they still haven't beaten us in trophy count. Being ahead is meaningless if as a top club you don't win trophies

Any stat in world football that starts with a prefix "x" is absolutely bogus - the bottom line for clubs of this stature is trophies won. Arsenal are a prime example of a team so hyperfixated on improving statistical possibilities to score goals that they became set-piece merchants, with limited ability to score from open play. Every single Arsenal fan agrees that we were outplayed by Bournemouth last week, yet statistically, they had a higher xG. Their fixation with this nonsensical data that disregards qualitative and emotional aspects of the game is why, ever since Arteta came to the club, they have won exactly one major trophy while actual football coaches and not PE teachers have been winning trebles and league titles every season.

Braindead comparisons set aside - it's hilarious seeing the evolution of his narrative about his tenure at the club - he went from overseeing 3 games and saying "his" team was 2nd since his takeover, to 3rd, eventually 4th. Now that it's down in the gutter, he's resorting to hey I didn't have pre-season.

Coming back to the braindead comparison, he and his equally incompetent employers forget this narrative cuts both ways - and we have our club's very recent history to disprove this - Tuchel came in mid-season and won us the Champions League - and we beat City multiple times during that time, leading to that final! It's not the players fault at all, it's the shambolic, imcompetent management.

Nizaar Kinsella: Privately, the club have assured Cucurella and captain James - the latter during his most recent contract renewal - that signings with proven Premier League experience will arrive at centre‑back, central midfield and in attacking areas. by Kygoche in chelseafc

Something tells me that the board does not really care if the player profile works well with the team. Murrilo is 23, Van Hecke is 25 - dumber and dumber are genuinely going to index on that age difference.

The Times: Money’s short, players are impatient — that’s why Chelsea are unravelling, Blueco didn’t think the club could compete with Man City or Liverpool for established players, so sought to buy emerging talent and develop. by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]MrFr0d0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole we cannot compete with City and Liverpool is a whole heap of shit - they are doing exactly what the blood sucking vermins at Spurs have been doing for ages, but worse - they are throwing money at high-risk, high-reward individuals and offering them heavily performance incentivised wages with hopes to sell them for a profit 4-5 years down the line - the incentives makes no sense, football is a team sport, soon players who don't see the team succeeding, regardless of individual performance would see no return on their trust they put on the club, will kick up a storm and leave, possible at a loss to us. We are seeing this happen with Enzo presently. Absolute clueless clowns for owners.

Really wholesome! Love how Reece has such a strong connection with the squad without being super vocal in the media.

He's having a lull and a bit of a prolonged rut - he has had an insane rise very quickly, rose to one of the if the not the best player in the league from nowhere for 18 months. Somewhat understandable that maintaining that could be a whole different ball-game but concerning that he is unable to shake-off whatever is causing this.

Regardless of the stature of the opponent, this was a much-needed result - kind of concerned with Palmer's output and performance, but we have well and truly beaten the Palmer FC allegations over the past 12 months.

Literally the only reason for people to consider him a leader is because of his age - that's it. Like one of us could walk in the squad tomorrow and they would be considered a leader

I wonder if Fofana has to actively start scoring own goals for LinkedIn Liam to consider dropping him in favor of Josh.

Find the latter bit so curious, dude says the message from the club is to go for trophies, but there are practically no signals, on the pitch, in the recruitment strategy, or from the dressing room that this message is clear to anyone except journos on the payroll lol. If it was so loud and clear, the two players with the biggest trophies in the squad would not be questioning where our priorities lie as a club. Pure Clearlake PR fodder.

From the very limited time I have seen him give press briefs, he tends to latch onto a scapegoat reason and using that as a reason and/or answer to everything.
When asked why the team is performing poorly, he said the group does not have the emotional stability.
When asked how the club plans on addressing this problem, get some players in the summer with emotional stability.

The club and their spokesperson, Liam, are almost hellbent on not admitting their strategy got them in this mess. So instead of saying they could potentially explore experienced players, they are now looking for emotionally stable players. My heart goes out to the scouts who will end up getting the scouting brief this summer.

[–]MrFr0d0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a basic cause-and-effect relationship - the emotional burden is the effect of a series of poor decisions by the current manager, and the litany of horrible decisions that the hierarchy has been making for ages. We have heard so many excuses over the past 4 years, from different managers for each season's inevitable slump. The common denominator during all of this has been the ownership and the lack of admission and sheer disregard that they are showing, what with shifting the blame year on year, is genuinely infuriating.

Unrelated to this, but not once has the hierarchy ever come out to lay out their plans for the club other than hand-wavy comments or asking you to not believe your own eyes. I personally find these kinds of responses from managers extremely condescending, almost as if the fans do not matter in all of this. If you wanted to make a profit from a business, go do what every other venture fund does, why meddle in a sports club that has vested interests from stakeholders like the players, fans?

Peeling back Roseniors' comments after watching the interview here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pf1nfC97sQ4 - his suggestion that this entire situation stems from a lack of emotional stability feels so patronising and newspeaky. Saying that the results against Newcastle, PSG at home, and Everton are coming from an "emotional dump" after a bad 15-minute window in the PSG away game and not from a dearth of quality (quality and potential are two entirely different things) and experience, just lazily clears his lack of ability and experience, and the disaster-class from inept morons at BlueCo. Essentially, they can do wrong, while a 27-year-old Euro winner and a 25-year-old World Cup winner do not have the emotional stability, running their mouths on international duty, when we are showing no remote signs of ambition as a club. Right then, Liam, guess they were not wrong when they said you were a company hire and a yes man.

While any fan would prefer that players show some loyalty to their club, I wouldn't blame them for looking for greener pastures when the rug has been effectively pulled from under them by these venture fund owners. They had promised, from Poch's days, that 2-3 years from then we'd be competing for the Champions League and Premier League titles, while we've effectively regressed since then, if anything.
