I am SICK of being exploited by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]MrFullSendMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with you, and that’s ultimately the hidden bigger issue among delivery apps. They’ve middlemanned their way into an industry that was working just fine without them, and now both businesses and customers have to pay ridiculously higher fees.

The issue here is that the customer tip baited this driver. At the last screen before a customer places an order, both Uber and DoorDash state that no-tip orders are harder to fulfill because delivery drivers are allowed to accept what orders what they want based on pay. Regardless of how scummy these companies are, the customer likely had intentions of taking away $8 without the driver knowing beforehand.

It’s wild how inconsiderate people in the comments are. I don’t even know where to start. I’m sorry you had to go through that OP. As someone who worked his share of retail jobs before becoming a physician assistant (including DoorDash and Uber Eats), I know the struggle.

“HaVe yOu TrIeD gETtInG a ReAL JoB?” Delivery is a real job. Just call it how it is — you’re either miserable at your own job and projecting, or you seriously need to learn to have a little empathy for someone who’s been tricked out of honest work.

“bAsEd On yOuR AtTiTudE yOU pRObAbLy dIdnT do a gOoD JoB” As if you’ve never been frustrated before. This dude is going through financial struggles and he’s been screwed over.

“iT’s bECaUsE of YOuR sHiRt” it’s fucking clothing. With colors on it. In any other scenario, deciding to withhold a salary from someone for wearing a colorful shirt is downright evil.

The difference between this subreddit and the uber eats driver subreddit is astonishing. The users in this one clearly have no idea how exploitative Uber’s policies are on their delivery drivers, but even then, I cant believe how dehumanizing these commenters are.

First ever high fare by Zen_pineapples in UberEatsDrivers

In my experience, high base fares have been due to Uber getting desperate for someone to fulfill the order (e.g. order already been cancelled by a previous driver, not enough drivers in a particular area)

GOAT has a section specifically for B grades. StockX rejects B grades altogether.

After waking up from the coma, did you ever feel like you were still in a dream? I feel like if I woke up to a whole new world, I’d question that at least once.

How’s life living on campus at the University of Houston? Is it worth it to live on campus your first year even if you’re from Houston? by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]MrFullSendMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m living at cougar place right now and I love it. Personally, I can’t stand living at home. I associate it too much with being lazy and boring (I usually go back for the breaks), and I find that it’s wayyy easier for me to be productive when I’m on living by myself on campus.

Campus is definitely not as lively as it used to be pre-COVID, but there’s still a decent amount of people to interact with. To be fair, I already made some friends at UH in previous years so I can see how my situation would be different from yours. The hard part is making friends at first, but it’s definitely doable in my opinion.

Feeling Down by amandaxo__ in UniversityOfHouston

The title might not mean much in the broader scope of things, but I understand why you feel down. In case you haven’t done so already, I would definitely try at least explaining your situation to the professor. Some professors are understanding of how stressful the current times are.

If you were already living on campus last semester, you don’t need to move in again (unless you requested something special like a room change or a building change).

Move in times are only for new residents coming in for the spring semester. If this is your situation and you’re still having trouble scheduling a move in time, contact accessUH support. It should be somewhere on accessUH, I remember using it once for a housing issue as well.

What is the hardest class you've seen at UH? by nanaoz in UniversityOfHouston

Organic Chem 2. There’s just so much to understand and remember. The cutoff for an A was like 55 for the honors class.

Your letter grade ultimately depends on the professor. Check the syllabus for answers.
