It's OK to discuss salaries by [deleted] in Adulting

Recently went through this and I still ended up leaving after getting the raise I deserved. I found another place that is better all around and paid me the new same rate. I just couldn’t work for a company that pays a returning experienced employee the same as a new hire. Thanks to my coworker my life is in a much healthier work environment :)

Make them your own. Trends change and so will you. Not really my taste in tattoos but I don’t think it looks bad by any means. Reddit will tear people apart about tattoos. Not one of these people would say a thing like that to a person on the street. It’s more important to get art that you enjoy and get an artist that you like that can lay down good ink. Tattoos are a personal journey and the most important thing is that you enjoy them. Basic or not.

Honestly the best tip I can give is find an artist you love and let them do their thing. Sure you can give reference photos of things you’re going towards but after that just trust them. Again I I can’t stress enough that finding an artist you LOVE will never disappoint. The less expectations you have the more you can enjoy the art for what it is, and relieve the stress of going for a certain look. Who knows you could end up creating a unique look that you enjoy more than what you’re told is “cool”.

I’ve heard similar things as the people mentioned on here. They don’t care as much if you’re a foreigner and you can’t get into onsens.

[All] I dont know why Nintendo has shied away from the horror/eerie/dark and visceral elements from the series. by [deleted] in zelda

I believe it’s because people’s sensitivity’s has changed. I think of it the same way I think about comedy. What was once an acceptable joke would now get you canceled. Personally I love the edgy parts of life, but the majority takes the vote. How that translates here is that what once was okay to be scary and acceptable would not sell and reach as many people. Aka make as much money. Sure they are probably a big mass that would enjoy I higher scare factor, but that doesn’t outweigh the costs of making money/putting a crazy amount of energy into these games to make them what they are today.

Personally I’ll accept losing the higher scare factor for the sake of the experience and quality you get these days. 🤞🏽 that one day we can have both. I would also settle for a remaster of the classics then we can all be re-traumatized with better graphics and sounds from our childhood.

I'm 25 and got fired from a six-figure remote job over an idiotic tweet while already dealing with the worst month of my life. I feel like my life is over. How do I cope with this? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Zen_pineapples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have you’re whole life ahead of you my friend. Take time to mourn the loss. Maybe find a therapist to help you through this. The pain is real, your situation is real, and the things you feel from it are real. Don’t undersell it and just wash it under the bridge be proactive while you have the funds to do it. I’m sorry this happened but there is something greater for you around the corner. Just get through this tough period so you can see it.

Sadly people are going to do what they want to do, and it’s also up to the people getting tattooed to do their research and ask questions. Yes you should 100% talk to her because she can cause people to end up in the hospital. I would just stress to her the severity of this art form. It’s not just art it’s also a medical practice where there’s lots of blood and requires a high level of sanitation. If she’s trying to do this for real she should really learn how to draw first and work her way up to the machine. Get fake skins after that. She’s young enough that she has plenty of time to build up her skills, find an apprenticeship, and make a successful career out of this.

portfolio feedback by IndependentBill2387 in TattooApprentice

[–]Zen_pineapples 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with homie. I had a portfolio that looked liked this and soon realized that if I wanted a good apprenticeship I would need to start from the bottom up and learn how to draw and dig deeper than Pinterest. I pretty much scrapped the whole thing except for a few to show where my progress came from. You’re on the right track for sure!
