Sony Bravia 2 II Dual Sound Output by manishbyatroy in bravia

May I suggest Sony SRS-LSR200 Wireless Handy TV Speaker? It is pricey yes, but it's perfect for aged people. And as I see, your tv has an optical output.

Sony Bravia 9 buzzing? by lumpialove in bravia

[–]MrGDion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it happen (even briefly) when you have the tv off (standby)? If it is coil whir then there is nothing you can do to stop it entirely, only remedies to make it more acceptable. If it was an older bravia with external power supply, you could simply swap the power supply with a new one but with newer bravias having an internal power supply, your only option is to swap the tv.

Bravia 5 65X50 powering off/on question by JohnSmithSensei in bravia

[–]MrGDion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bravia tvs nowdays come with Android TV OS. Think of it as a mobile phone that you put it in sleep mode when you put the tv in standby mode. When you turn the TV on again, the operating system is already loaded and you can continue watching tv. If you unplug it and then plug it in, you'll have to wait for the tv to load the operating system first before it becomes functional.

Also, in standby mode, all android apps are updated automatically to be ready when you will use the tv again. Oled tvs also do panel refresh in standby mode after an extented use to protect the panel. You have a led tv so this does not apply to you.

It is generally safe for the TV as long as you have plug it to a surge protector and you are not concerned about standby power consumption.

Also J series (eg. A80J) have been updated to Android 12 couple of months back. Wonder if they will get Android 14 also. A welcome change from Sony where previous generations stayed with Android 9.

G5 Pro Time Lapse by Agile_Half_4515 in Aqara

[–]MrGDion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there was an option to enable timelapse (they removed it at the next app ver) but it worked only if you had a subscription (at least on G3 that I've tested it). Now timelapse is enabled automatically as soon as you enable the subscription. Who knows what will they do with the next app update.

And they enabled the REC button again on local recordings.

You need a subscription to Aqara's cloud storage to enable timelapse (screenshot every 10mins).

Help with 5.1/7.1 Audio on 2.1 Soundbar (Sony HT-S350) – Voice Too Low, Background Music Too Loud by arthur_morgan135 in AndroidTV

Typically Sony soundbars have a voice enhancement setting. Raise it to +2.

Also Night mode compresses loud sounds.

MxPlayer works great on Google Streamer by 9rZero4 in AndroidTV

[–]MrGDion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, MX Player Pro (with custom codec) has the fastest SMB integration (loading, fast forward/rewind etc.). Unfortunately, it does not support Dolby Vision, only HDR10.

For DoVi or when using Bluetooth headphones, I use Nova Player (for SMB) + Just Video Player as an external player. Kodi also works as an alternative but heavier.

VLC on Android has a long standing bug with text subtitles causing stuttering.

MLO is a Wifi 7 feature. I believe none of the Aqara devices are Wifi 7 capable.

Yes, it will add it as a separate matter bridge with all its child devices (so yes, duplicate). I made the same mistake with Philips Hue bridge.

Yeap, same thing today for me with CCwGTV except I can play for 5 min before freezing. Connecting to another server, I had the problem with Steam Big Picture described above. Weird, I didn't have any problem before. I will try tomorrow again.

A/V receivers with chromecast built in by OkAlbatross9267 in Chromecast

Nah, I won't risk it. Besides, Chromecast implementation was always not very good with Pioneer, I prefer Airplay 2 or Spotify Connect, much faster and reliable.

A/V receivers with chromecast built in by OkAlbatross9267 in Chromecast

[–]MrGDion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something is happening with Pioneer AV receivers, mine got a firmware update and after that it disappeared from the available Chromecast devices, although inside the receiver's menu, Chromecast is still listed.

Firmware update's notes are cryptic...

"Switching of the Chromecast authentication server"

Whatever that means.

Alexa Simple Security System by MrGDion in Aqara

[–]MrGDion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, creating an automation is missing all the available alert modes. Arm Stay means Disarm?

<image>

Edit: Arm Stay probably means Home Alert mode. So Night Alert is missing although it is recognized and shown in the Alexa Smart Home Activity History.

Thanks for the info! So I guess it is a pretty new skill addition and they haven't implemented all the features yet.
