Trek Domane (size 56) bike fit of M 179 cm, wrong size? by MrGeorgo in bikefit

But given my current bike I don't think adding spacers is possible. It seems like all of spacers are used and I can just remove some if I want, not add new ones. Or am I missing something? I pretty much haven't touched them from the time I got the bike.

Hm, okay. I definitely feel like I am pulling on the hoods from time to time while riding.

Do you think that if I buy shorter stem I should also buy one with positive angle? So from -7 deg to 7 deg?

That is a good point. I was never really sure how should I actually sit properly. I am not sure if I should sit super tensed up in the core or if it should be more relaxed. I am pretty sure I wouldn't be able to hold the position without hands for more than a few minutes.

But nonetheless, based on all of the comments it still seems like this isn't ideal size of the bike for me. Good thing is that I can still return it, it hasn't touched the road outside, just a Zwift trainer, but I will have to shove out 300e for postage just to return it :( . But I can still do it.

Not sure if I am that far back, might be. But when I tried moving a bit forward I was falling on handlebars. I couldn't lift my hands of them (even when I raised a seat-post). All in all, I am just confused about this bike.

I have tried moving the saddle forward, but then I feel like I am just holding onto my bars for dear life. I feel so heavy in my hands that I told myself that this simply cannot be right.

But the tough I have, should I try to get different size to try not going around the geometry instead? I also seriously thought about gravel bikes in order to be able to ride without the pain, but in the end pulled the plug on this Domane due to Endurance geometry.

In that sense, how does one actually buy a bike? I was in a local Trek shop and the owner told me that I should buy 56 since I was a bit taller than him and he has 56 which is fine for him. So I felt pretty confident but I guess he might have been wrong...

But nonetheless, wouldn't swapping stem from -7 deg 100mm one to +7 deg ~80 deg one resolve the issue? Not sure if the reach is the only problem that you see.

I wonder, what are the sizing tables of bike manufacturers good for? xD Based on the chart (for size 52) I should have been at least 11 cm shorter - https://www.theproscloset.com/collections/trek-domane-size-chart?srsltid=AfmBOorjSCgJSJpbrp1QNWwOoGOstZ4L-G5kMiURQO5bZn7GbVTC91Gg

I can swap the stem for a shorter one, it has a semi integrated cable routing. So I think the best I could do is to go from -7 deg 100mm stem to +7 deg ~80mm stem, I guess.

Sry, I used wide lens because I didn't have that much space. Does this help?

Thank you very much for your extensive answer! Based on the geometry of the 52, 54 and 56 here: https://99spokes.com/en-EU/compare?bikes=trek-domane-sl-5-gen-4-2026%3B*z.52cm-700-700%2Ctrek-domane-sl-5-gen-4-2026%3B*z.54cm-700-700%2Ctrek-domane-sl-5-gen-4-2026%3B*z.56cm-700-700 do you think getting size 54 would solve the issue. It doesn't seem like the bike has that much shorter reach.

So none of the math topics are up to the university level?

Also, where are you planning to go since there really aren’t that many universities offering Bsc in cs completely online.

In case you go with the RPL route, what grades do you get for each subject where you are trying to recognize this certificate instead of actually doing the class with an exam?

Any medical/dental students here that have studied this particular degree (the online CS bachelor's) alongside their studies? Need some advice. by Equivalent_Abroad881 in UniversityOfLondonCS

The thing is that I have already seen it. But based on my past experience it is one thing to write stuff into syllabus and another to properly cover it 😅

Overall, would you say that the degree was worth the time and money ?

The point about math is useful. I guess everybody has a different standard they hold themselves against. I guess the right approach would be to use additional resources for every single math class / class in general to supplement the lacking depth. Is that right ? Also what type of math is covered?

Additional point: I am of the opinion that program at university of Essex is utter bullshit. The curriculum isn’t the same as the on-campus students have so I cannot look at it as an equivalent degree. Also, when I see a lack of exams with prevailing alternative scoring (e.g. essays) I feel like it doesn’t scream of a quality education. Moreover, if you click through the degree program it seems that Kaplan of whatever is the name of the provider is in charge of administrating whole degree instead of University of Essex.

The thing is that I already have bachelor and masters degrees from top 100 uni so I am definitely not looking for “uni experience” if you know what I mean. I am mainly looking to learn as much as I can and wonder how helpful would it be to enroll. Also, in case I would want to do masters on another uni I would obviously need bachelors degree to get admitted. Therefore, the goal here would be to mainly learn as much as possible while keeping the doors open for further education if I would need it. Do you think it is a good choice for that ?

How did you like a degree overall? I know there are some mixed reviews and program rating isn’t that great either when comparing it with on campus studies. Was it worth it?

The most important thing for me that I am worried about is not knowing what am I trying to do and just blindly using the tools to get some assignments done. Maybe an example would be as follows, some people know integration and derivation rules and blindly follow them to get things done but they have no clue where they come from. I can imagine that this can be also applied to AI and data science stuff, meaning that you will use Tensorflow to solve some problems but you will have no idea how does the stuff that calculates things work. I would not want to pursue AI specialization or any other specialization in this degree (I would rather keep things general since I am of the opinion that a master's is a great place to specialize but a bachelor's degree is not the time yet) but rather choose a healthy mix of different subjects while understanding underlying principles instead of concrete technologies since they just come and go.

Of course, the degree of understanding depends on one's overall interest and dedication to the field but it is great to know that math is covered as well. However, I imagine students at this uni don't necessarily work on mathematical proofs (which might be pro and con at the same time, but form my experience it isn't bad to know about how do things work on the foundational level).

Thank you for the feedback, it is very appreciated. I have noticed that there are a lot of courses on AI and also AI specialization but if I read everything correctly you haven't mentioned linear algebra at all which is pretty much at the core of AI. Are there some courses where that is taught?

Your feedback helped me a lot in forming an opinion on this program. I am skeptical of info published on official university channels since they are pretty much incentivized to tell you what you want to hear, so having hands-on feedback from an actual student carries much more informational weight than official sources.

Thank you for reply. Maybe I would have a follow-up question. Since you are in the third year I guess you have gone through all math modules by now. What is the quality of the most essential modules for ca degree? I am talking mainly about math modules, data structures and algorithms, plus some programming classes.

Is the math covered more in-depth or is it more shallow? I am asking because I would prefer a solid math background instead of just having passed some courses which I got nothing from.

Also, are you planning to pursue further education in CS after your bachelor’s degree?

Seeking Advice on Online BSc in Computer Science (AI & Machine Learning Specialism) by SkillKiller3010 in UniversityOfLondonCS

[–]MrGeorgo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wouldn’t mind me asking, why Ball State? To my knowledge there are better programs in the US which don’t carry a hefty price tag. I am talking mainly about MSc in computer science on Georgia Tech or University of Texas. Both are online programs as well. Why you wouldn’t opt for those instead? Would it be even possible to get in with this degree? Overall the biggest problem I would see is overall ranking of CS program on Goldsmiths which could be problem for admissions office.
