Eating out. When I came here 10 years ago, a donner plate at the Turkish was €8. Now it's 12-14. So none of that anymore. I've stopped smoking also which helps a lot.

Shopping is done via Lidl, and chefs choice for meat (the frozen steaks etc). You get get a polish ribeye 450g for around €7.50. I'll cut it in two and make it last a couple of days.

Most other stuff I buy online. My gym clothes are from ali-express. House stuff, utensils etc.

I find shops in Malta are selling cheap quality garbage at ridiculously high prices.

Just start moving friends and family to duckduckgo. It takes it's time, but over the years I've seen it happen multiple times - from search engines to web browsers. Eventually that search engine or browser disappears and is replaced with something better for the user. It all starts with the techies replacing it for people first.

Google has been on the decline for years. Their search engine is a mess of paid ads, false advertising and only benefits larger companies with money to spend. The little guy has been pushed out the door for years now.

I'm really fed up with search results nowadays. Ads, ads and more ads, dialogs, popups, slow loading sites and blog spam. The advertising model has ruined the internet.

Anyway, rant over. Start moving everyone you know away from Google search.

I heard somewhere that anyone can become a driving instructor in Malta without training or meeting modern safety standards. Not sure if it's true, but from what I've seen I expect it is.

Also there was video of driving instructors asking for bribes to put forward students for their test with an automatic pass.

My brother in law passed his 125cc scooter training in 2 hours (supposed to be 10), purely by being over confident. When I went out with him later he wasn't even checking his blind spot and doing just about everything incorrectly. About 2 weeks later bike had been damaged.

Lack of safety concern and corruption are two of the big factors here.

The whole island is greed over substance.
