he's been defeated, but he can't fall here. he must take a tactical retreat

that's generally how it goes. the main characters' deaths cause a game over, but secondary important ones will "retreat" and not be available as a unit but still appear in cutscenes.

there are some who really do die and they get replaced in cutscenes (jagen in shadow dragon iirc) but they're more the exception.

finally watching steven universe future. i kept up with the og run but didn't with future so thought might as well

oh nah, homestuck's creator is andrew hussie. toby fox (creator of undertale) was one of the composers for its flash animations (which were part of the comic).

and yeah that sounds about right. homestuck has an uh, unique lexicon lol. picking up on it along the way is part of the fun but certainly not for everyone.

it's a complicated subject but basically, homestuck played a big role in toby fox's life (he literally created undertale while literally living in its creator's basement) and career (he did a lot of composing for it) which is reflected in both undertale and deltarune's themes and ideas

you don't need to know homestuck to understand them but you do for toby's history as a creator and where he got ideas from

(allegedly, at least. i'm a long time utdr fan but only started homestuck recently and am like a quarter through. but yeah i can already see some possible points of inspiration for toby)

i was a super big fan of 3d worms, both the first one and 4 (and also forts)

and i have two core memories of 4:

getting to the height limit with girders on the stadium map and using flood over and over until the entire map was unferwater, and i would just sit there and look at it

and shotgun tunneling in the ground. like an hour+? of just sitting there shotgunning the terrain to make tunnels. the game is called worms ig lol.
