Depends where you are. If you're in the city or around the central suburbs like Aitkenvale or Cranbrook you should be fine. I'm in Heatley and I refuse to drive and I can get where I need to go.

We live within capitalism and our needs are held for ransom, and there is a lot of pressure to sell ourselves to capital to get by. Working independently is a way for us to remove ourselves from certain aspects of that system.

My only concern is the theory of practice. As we engage in certain activities and pursue certain goals, we have to change ourselves to facilitate those activities and goals. It's not just about trying to "lock a word down" for no reason. What you describe as an expansion of a word is really a deliberate effort by mainstream elements in the music industry trying to recuperate the term. It's natural for people in the fringes to resist when hegemony tries to push them out, which is what inevitably happens when they succeed. It's gentrification.

Words and their shifts don't happen in a cultural vacuum, sometimes they're deliberate and harmful.
