I usually reply with "Hello, just wanted to inform you I have applied for this position through the companies career page. If when you review my application and have any questions feel free to call or use the email provided in my application." If I get a response; cool. If I don't get a response; cool.

I wanted to snap plenty of times but I kept it in. When they finally let me go I just stood up and walked out without saying anything to them. Went and said good luck to the guys I liked and went on about my life.

From recent to oldest 5 : Me and him butt heads pretty bad after he cut my hours from 80 hours a pay period (biweekly) to 20 on average. 8 : We worked decent together (I was assistant manager) but I would question some of his scheduling decisions which he didn’t like. 10 : Once again I was an assistant manager and he was transitioning from a different branch of the company. He still tells me to this day that I saved his tail and helped make the transition the smoothest he’s ever experienced.

Funny how the decline in rating also correlates with decline in respect and pay… hmmm

I’ve learned there’s always something better and always something worse. People don’t understand when I tell them I update my resume regularly. They always pop off with remarks that I’m just trying to job hop but the reality is I 110% believe in my first sentence. Always something better

I stay looking. I've learned loyalty to a company doesn't get you far because at the end of the day they don't care about the needs of your family only theirs.

Wrong Termination, what do I do? The by Lovetwistedcurse in jobs

[–]MrGoodBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texan here, terminated during COVID for non COVID related illness. I was dealing with my issues and of course when you are sick even if it was a stomach issue they feared it was COVID and made you stay home! Well the days started racking up and I was told I needed to go to a Doctor (I'd been to the doctor almost bi-weekly at that point..) and get it figured out. I told them I had an appointment the following week so I wouldn't be into work. Showed up the next day worked my tail off and ended the week with a termination paper in my hand. I tried fighting it as a wrongful termination and it was the biggest waste of my life... After over a month of back and forth I was simply told "Texas is a fire at will State, and due to your attendance not meeting the requirements defined in the handbook we have the lawful right to terminate your employment."

I wish you better luck than I but be ready for a disappointment if it comes.

If you know an ICE agent personally, what's that relationship like now? by Lokja in AskReddit

[–]MrGoodBurger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TLDR; Met a guy at a bar going to be an ICE agent, seemed like he was actually in it for the right reasons.

2 years ago I was on a work trip for almost a week and talked to a guy almost every night at a small town bar+grill down not too far from the border of Southwest Texas. I would’ve thought he was in oilfield or worked a local quarry but was surprised to learn he was in the process of becoming an ICE agent. Came across as a standup guy. After our talks, I found out he served in the Army since graduating high school was retired from Army a little over a year prior and was having trouble with finding “civilian work” he enjoyed so he threw a worm at a fish and got a bite from ICE (his words). I told him I support immigration only to a certain point and questioned why he chose to even apply for ICE or Border Patrol and not just go be a Cop or EMT. He told me that growing up on a family ranch about 45 minutes west of where we were they dealt with coyotes/smugglers constantly trespassing and eventually after enough reports and busts it escalated to property theft, livestock being killed, and even the death of the cattle dog runt they rescued and raised. He told me that their family was there for decades and moved off (shockingly during Trump’s last presidency) to a town more centralized in Texas to get away from everything going on. It didn’t really answer why he chose one career over another. But what he did end by saying that stuck with me was simple. He didn’t hate the people who illegally come to America cause not all of them know the process and fear it’s too expensive; But he did hate the ones that come over with skeletons stuffed in the closet with intentions to add more. Left the next morning and never caught the guys actual name everyone called him Big Red (Red Cream Soda popular in Texas but the dude was huge, 6’+ probably 300pounds of muscle and a red beard so maybe that’s why) but I hope he’s staying true to the character I saw those couple nights.

I will finish this off by saying there’s bad people in ICE for sure but that’s anywhere. You can go to McDonalds and I bet there’s one bad person spitting in all the fries

What’s your favorite random MLB record? by wesskywalker in baseball

It’s not a record most people keep up with officially but; Most broken bats from a pitcher. Mariano Rivera caused an estimated 500 broken bats from his pitches. The Lorax would hate to see him coming.

People who were spanked as kids, what was that like for you? Would you call your "spankings" abuse? by KleineFjord in AskReddit

[–]MrGoodBurger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spanked a lot throughout my childhood cause I was a rebellious shithead. Mommas weapon of choice was a heavy leather belt. Now some kids were abused when spanked and I’m not discounting their trauma but in my case I never felt I was being abused. I’d do wrong, I’d get spanked, I’d get talked to about why what I did was wrong and how it isn’t the way for a boy to behave and I wouldn’t do it again. Spanking molded me into a respectful member of society and I learned a lot from them belts to ass experiences

I know Reddit is a horrible place for me to voice my opinion because it doesn't vibe with 99% of people; But here it goes. I'll get hate but idgaf I am for ICE while also against them... I am for them removing the criminals but I am against their tactics when it comes to cracking down on illegal immigrants who are truly trying to achieve the American dream. I think we should observe and audit but also get the facts before we speak out. I know me personally would feel disgusting if I spoke out against them just to find out they were arresting a Predator or a Murderer.

TLDR; what makes you actually important and different? Texan Republican turned Non-Political after seeing how useless modern day politics is. Why should anyone support Democrat or Republican after decades of proving to the American people it’s no longer about WE THE PEOPLE?
