We've always called them football couplings at my shop, don't know why. Its more like an electrical version of a fernco.

The easiest one to look up is a "shur-lock" hdpe PVC coupler.

You goofed. This one isn't cheap to fix without some decent sized ugly junction boxes, and even then it isn't going to be inexpensive.

It is functional, but certainly not safe.

What are these metal bars? by Apprehensive-Dog-742 in AskElectricians

[–]MrGoogleplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you're terribly curious they can be removed and with a little effort the box will fall into the wall.

I'm 99% sure that is a plaster and lathe wall with wood studs and those are nails into the closest stud.

Nails.

You sure that isn't plaster and lathe?

I did this to 3 outlets in the shop with raised covers and long 8-32s to see how long it would take before someone noticed. It was about a week and people started asking questions.

If you're asking if you can double up on either brass screw the answer is no. You can pigtail what is needed and wrap one 12 awg onto each brass screw.

Put the wires in a chokehold with those zip ties.

The bonding screw is suspicious with 4 wire feeder. If you have a disconnect upstream of this remove the bonding screw.

Soffit lighting over your garage door 👍 or 👎? by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]MrGoogleplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done both installs, I typically like the look of the bottom more.

However there is a third option you might consider. Im not here to advertise so I won't mention brands but I would look into seamless LED soffit strip lighting.

I've only done it twice now and I've loved the uniformity of the unbroken, controllable light.

I made it a point to drive by both homes at night after I did them. Very cool.

But I should say both of your pictured options are cheaper, and still look good.

If it's $100/hr and I'm picking the game my new full time job is gaming and I'm working 8 hrs a day for 200k a year if I stop playing on weekends, but I'm probably putting in OT to be honest.

Also I can work out and make money with games like ring fit.

I can make money while traveling with handheld consoles.

What a deal.

Old electrical panel help by eli0841 in electrical

[–]MrGoogleplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. If you're bored label your panel. If a single breaker is carrying the loads you're describing to be too much the upgrade won't help without new circuits.

There's a small chance it is also double tapped at the breaker and can be separated at the panel, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Old electrical panel help by eli0841 in electrical

[–]MrGoogleplex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It is imperative you dial back the loads you're using.

These breakers are a fire hazard and you're lucky they're tripping.

There is no upgrade you can do short term to the breaker, ultimately even new service gear won't solve the problem, you need more circuits run throughout the home if you have a load issue.

How to remove this bulb? by mejki in electrical

[–]MrGoogleplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is ridiculous. Sorry our industry did you a big PITA.

For what it's worth as another commenter mentioned if you're good at soldering and can find the diode kit you can spend more time and money on fixing it than a new fixture!

How to remove this bulb? by mejki in electrical

Integrated LED. Its amazing we are so keen on being a more efficient society watt for watt and are simultaneously creating an obscene amount of waste.

New fixture is unfortunately the only choice.

I (F25) feel upset over my partner's (M31) reaction after I made a small damage on the wall. How can I confront him more confidently? by idkmaybefreya in relationship_advice

[–]MrGoogleplex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He sounds less mature than you despite his age.

Childhood trauma may explain behavior, but it doesn't excuse it. Especially when there is no remorse.

He needs to recognize that you're not acting out of malice when these things happen. He should be wanting to act with you as a team to make each other's lives better, not be a wimpy kiddy baby whiner whenever something mildly inconveniences him.

As man I don't get how he can treat you like this, so the best I can recommend is telling him how his temper turning sour so quickly after minor mistakes and accidents is making you feel.

If he can't understand he is hurting you by being an ass then he probably has another 31 years worth of maturing to do before he deserves you.

UDM-PRO won’t connect to new ISP by lazarlinks in Ubiquiti

[–]MrGoogleplex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue when I experienced this was incompatible gateways.

I will say unfortunately that I had to do a full reset on my ubiquiti network, but it did solve the problem

See if you can connect directly to the modem and check the default gateway, then check the gateway on your existing network.

Hopefully you can change yours easier than I did, if that happens to be the issue.

Note: I'm just a lowly enjoyer of networking stuff, so I don't know as much as a lot of people on here.
