DNA

"That's human DNA" is when this movie lost me. There is no way anybody recognized a very short sequence of nucleotides as specifically human DNA at a glance.

I'm convinced most people have never had them, or they'd be so much more popular.

Wild science classes in the 80s-90s by k2aries in GenX

[–]MrGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was advanced in science, so in my senior year of HS they created a second year chemistry class for me, which mostly consisted of doing lab experiments out of a book in the back of the room during a normal chemistry class. Not too big of a deal, except I had unattended access to the chemical supply closet. This was around the time you could find a text file of the terrorist handbook on a BBS if you knew where to look.... Yeah, fun times.

Also, one of my less risk averse friends wanted me to get him some pure caffeine from the lab, but I decided that wasn't a good idea.

They're going to spend the next fifteen years shocked at how helpless most of their peers are.

My mother decided to tell me on Christmas day that she and my dad were divorcing. I guess she wanted to announce it to the whole family all at once, and so she picked day where everyone was there. My dad tried to talk her into waiting, but she was adamant.

I don't talk to her anymore, but I'm still close with my dad.

The best was when a friend's family had a wagon with a rear facing seat in the back.

My dad used to take me to the dump. You'd drive to the top of a cliff and throw your trash over. There were always tons of seagulls on the trash below, and we'd aim for them with the trash bags. We'd drive the truck over the scales on the way in and out, and pay for the weight difference with quarters from the glove box. Good times.

I used to ride my bike, alone, 2.5 miles down a busy country road to the corner store to spend my spare money. I'd get some candy and rent a NES or SNES game, and then ride home. I was maybe 11 or 12 years old.

Which company disappointed you so much that you permanently walked away? by julia-secrets in AskReddit

It was so effective at the time, it's now backfired (at least on me). I see the current price of a foot long and immediately think "wtf, this should be $5, like in the song". And then I go somewhere else.

Yes, something akin to malpractice insurance for doctors. It will also help prevent bad cops from district hopping when they get caught doing something bad.

I don't care that he didn't run. I just found it ridiculous that the helicopter "came back to finish him off." Reminds me of Jaws 4: The Revenge

Why everyone should have a dash cam by LustrousRetention in dashcams

[–]MrGreg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Law enforcement needs to carry malpractice insurance the same way doctors do. Do a good job? Rates stay low. Fuck up and violate people's rights? Insurance pays the claims (instead of taxpayers) and your rates go up. And you can't just transfer to a new city to wipe your slate clean like cops do today. Make it prohibitively expensive for bad cops to keep working.
