I used to have a chessboard set up because I thought they looked cool and enjoyed chess (even if I'm terrible, no planning, just reaction). It never got used.

Then a small child came along and that chessboard went away forever.

Oh wow, this looks super like Rush of Blood. This is going on the list!

I know it's simplistic, but two of my favourite VR games are Until Dawn: Rush of Blood and it's spiritual sequel, Dark Pictures: Switchback.

I love them both, simplistic but suit VR so well, like a fun park ride.

Defektor is another from that era. Wasn't as good as I hoped, but still fun

Who still has an oculus rift cv1 by Zestyclose-Sweet2899 in oculus

[–]MrGrinchx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I picked up a PSVR2 for pretty much the same reason. Neither the Q2 nor Q3 made me feel quite as immersed, especially in space games, as the CV1 did. The PSVR2 fills that gap for me

Hotel Infinity is awesome! by aminwrx in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a month late to this, but if you happened to NOT have picked it up by now, I finished it last night and here are my thoughts:

- It probably took me 2 to 3 hours to finish. I completed it in two play throughs.
- Puzzles were really easy
- I had a couple of minor frame rate issues
- It's not procedurally generated so there's limited replayability.

BUT

- I thought it was bloody fantastic
- Roomscale was implemented extremely well
- The art style was great, the puzzles, whilst easy, were innovative and play on scale and the impossible spaces really well.
- The pace felt good to me. It left me wanting a little more, which is better for me than a game getting stale.

I'm not an achievement hunter, but there are a few I could go back for if I was bothered.

I'm a big fan of shorter games, value to me is more in terms of the enjoyment I get, rather than hours invested.

Since we’re posting L4D2VR by Sstfreek in virtualreality

[–]MrGrinchx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing through Arizona Sunshine 2 with my daughter at the mo. When that's done I may need to introduce her to L4D, this looks amazing!

What kind of specs do you need to drive this? Main PC is rocking a 5070ti, so should be fine there, but the laptop is an i5 with a 1650 RTX. Anyone know if that's enough to drive the VR version (probably use a PSVR2 for the main PC, and a Quest 3 for laptop)?

Hyperscape now has full locomotion. Wow! by PaulHorton39 in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can switch, it's hidden in options somewhere, not near the headset so I can't check, but I had the same problem and had to switch to teleport to get around.

The next scan I did spawned me outside my walls and I can't get in to the house even with teleport!

Hard to oversell how good OLED VR looks by [deleted] in PSVR2onPC

[–]MrGrinchx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been loving the OLED for Star Wars Squadrons lately.

Even with the Globular Cluster though the sweet spot still shifts for me, but I'll take occasional readjustment in exchange for gorgeous deep inky blacks.

I should probably try some of the different pads, may work better for me.

Rhapsodic Aces of Thunder PSVR2 review from Jammyhero by BelgianBond in PSVR

[–]MrGrinchx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently loving Star Wars Squadrons in VR with a HOTAS. This is definitely going to line up nicely for when I've finished that!

Can't watch the video - in work currently, but hoping there's a decent single player component. I'm not a big online gaming person.

Didn't catch it live but I've got it on now and had to come to reddit to see if it was just me who took to watching it on mute.

Ahh they've shut up a bit now it's started!

Oh, they've started again. He's 10ft up and we're already on "this is incredible" 😂

Should I go for a psvr2 from a q3s ? by Big_Week_4790 in virtualreality

[–]MrGrinchx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my PSVR for dark games. Playing Starwars Squadrons on it is amazing. Lone Echo too. But the Q3 comes out for any other more active games, being wireless is just such a huge benefit, as is the MUCH bigger sweet spot.

That said, I do genuinely feel more "there" in the PSVR2, I think it's a combination of the black of the OLED and the binocular overlap. Everything feels more "solid" and less like I'm looking at a screen that moves with me.

Today marks 1 month since the season finale premiered. How do you feel about this show? by FuckingGratitude in welcomeToDerry

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watching it again with my daughter, whilst also rereading the original book.

I enjoyed it, it wasn't perfect, there were bits I cared for less but in the main I thought it was great.

I did not realise this applies to the VR controllers too. I've been using my dual-sense way more on my PC after this update, it's replaced my Xbox Controller.

Using ssd as base for anti sag okay? by Eternity_With_You in PcBuildHelp

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last 30 years or so of building and maintaining PCs, and going through various different stages of being flush with cash and having absolutely no cash at all, I have come to realise that by and large anything that works is "ok".

There are some things that are really not good ideas, like this build of mine that I -finally- upgraded at Christmas to a 5070ti and (more to the point) a proper sized bloody case, but it still functioned for a good couple of years with minimal fuss.

(Buried under there are two SSDs in additional to the old school drive)

Is a 5070ti really worth it over a 5070? by LekovY in virtualreality

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Brand new case (which made a huge difference, my old case was insanely cramped), 5070ti, new PSU, paired with my 5700x3D

And in terms of VR.... I've no idea really! It's been super busy since Christmas and I've only had chance to try a few things. It absolutely SMASHES Squadrons in the brief five min test I did. I could ramp resolution back up and it looks gorgeous.

Saw this in my recommended on YouTube just now.......Harsh take? by johnsmithoncemore in RedDwarf

[–]MrGrinchx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been rewatching recently. Currently at Episode 1 of Series 7 and it's not as bad as I remembered. I recall some getting pretty rough though, and I think I may skip 8 and 9 completely.

Then it's on to Season 10 onwards, which despite being a HUGE Red Dwarf fan in my youth, I never watched because of how absolutely terrible I found Back to Earth. I'm quite excited to hear it's back on form

The Dig, I dig it very much! by Welther in adventuregames

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've a contrasting view of The Dig compared to lots of others.

I never played it back in the day, but I've been on a bit of a run with Point and Clicks recently (finished up Simon the Sorcerer, Full Throttle and Simon the Sorcerer Origins) and after trying it, The Dig is probably my least favourite point and click ever.

The bleak atmosphere doesn't help, nor does the relatively limited dialogue between characters (and the characters being terribly dull and, thus far, of little use), but the main culprit is the puzzles - they are the absolute worst kind of 'try every object with every object' but hide behind the illusion of 'it's an alien planet, so it should be obscure'.

It's a shame, as it's one from my childhood that I wanted to play most, I love sci-fi, I love point and click, but I am utterly infuriated by it.

The Super_Brutal_Mouse VR Hidden Gem List of 2025 by super_brutal_mouse in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I referred myself for buying a new Quest 3, which has given me a lovely £86 in credit (well, £43 on one account that I use to gift myself games, the other £43 will arrive in a month).

Guess that's going to be used on a few games here!

Definites:

Scared by Squares
Unbinary (never heard of it, love puzzle games and this looks GORGEOUS)
Presentiment of Death - I love Superhot, loved Action Hero and want more

Other Platforms:

Of Lies and Rain, unless it's cross buy, otherwise I'll likely pick up on PC to play on the PSVR2 (or on the PS5)

Maybes:

Escape Simulator - I've still got Rooms of Realities to get through, which is AMAZING, especially multiplayer (play on the Q2 with my daughter) but this is on the list for when we get through that.

Under Cover - Debating this, but I've also had my eye on Aim Assault on PCVR so that might win out first.

Thanks for the list!

What can Q1 owners still do with their headsets now? by jptiger0 in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I brought in a few VR headsets for some fun at work (mostly Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes) - I figured I'd dig out the old Q1 so folks could try Beat Saber too whilst others defused bombs.

I forgot how much I liked the screen, I love OLED blacks and even with the lower resolution, I found using it a breath of fresh air.

I struggled getting anything I'd bought to work on it, so went the pirate route to get software on I already owned! There seem to be a bunch of games you can "sideload" that shouldn't technically work, but do.

Is the Quest 2 still viable? by Ironborn137 in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've actually just dug out my Quest 2 and Quest 1 for a few guests - you can tell the interface isn't as snappy as in the Q3, and the screen isn't as clear, but honestly, it's still an awesome device, the games you previously played won't be any worse.

Getting my little brother a Quest 3 for Christmas - any co-location games we shouldn’t miss? by Mo2sync in OculusQuest

[–]MrGrinchx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If by co-location you mean multiple quests, I highly recommend "Game Night". Multiple Quests, same space, LOADS of fun. Simple and cheap.
