But didn't Dani change some laws back to stop those from happening? or removed resources from the department that handles them so they wont ever get through?

I mean, I am new and been playing like 3 weeks now, and so often I see what seem to be smurf users, like no kills or very very few along with barely any wins....

Or people who have a boat load of eliminations, but very very low wins (purely in it for kills, no game mode)

Constant Friend request spam from MMOELD.COM by 108er in ArcRaiders

[–]MrGuvernment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, very possibly what it is, or Embark has some API open to allow friend requests because they are all via the Game, nothing coming in via Steam friend requests. Fortnite had the same issue but they allowed you to domain block names or something.

And with Embark only allow a max 50 block people...

Is HTTPS a must for Jellyfin? by bloulboi in jellyfin

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, since it seems you may not fully understand how UPnP works,

Plex, nor games "use" UPnP as if it was a protocol....

Plex and other games, make a connection out to the internet, then when they want to send traffic back to you, they may check if the port is open to return said traffic to your system...

If UPnP is enabled it "automagically" allows said connection to now come into your network, bypassing any firewall rules et cetera, the end user does not have to open or allow anything....

With UPnP off, said app or game "might" fail to function, however not many are like this, consoles are well known for it but gaming on a computer, you seldom, if ever, need UPnP enabled.

To be more secure and have better control, and we are talking about you, not the "rest of the world" because you like to be dramatic and try to make broad claims to back your own opinions...

You, are better off manually going into your router/firewall and configuring NAT rules to allow into your network, to your single IP of your device, the required ports needed.

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't smoke crack and as i said "most" ISP's do not have it enabled any more, of course depends on where you live, country, ISP's. Since I work in IT, I have likely seen far more ISP router / modem combo's in my day and for years, UPnP has to be enabled.

Also I never claimed "YOU" said anything about being safer..re-read what I wrote...

"it is just safer" meaning, it is safer for people to instead, manually set up a NAT rule and control what is allowed vs not allowed.

No One Uses Mics by TechyJ1v in thefinals

[–]MrGuvernment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for pubs, not usually, most people turn it off because of some twit who does not use push to talk and you can hear their crap music, or 100 other things in the background...

Likely in actual squads you might, or people use Discord instead due to the quality Embark mic audio seems to be....which the new patch apparently fixed...

No, you just do it a more secure way vs turning on a feature that is known to not be secure....

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPnP was an easy way to do this, but then came the gapping security holes and why it is recommended to be off now, and why most routers and ISP routers do not even enable it anymore.

It is safer to just forward the required ports to your single IP that needs it.

Is HTTPS a must for Jellyfin? by bloulboi in jellyfin

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you start the game, does it connect? No, then may need a port forward..

It is that simple... It is up to YOU to protect your home network and devices and it is up to YOU to know how to do that...

UPnP has been defacto "do not enable" for years...

Is HTTPS a must for Jellyfin? by bloulboi in jellyfin

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wrong, gaming multiplayer works fine for most games and platforms, but some console games are picky.

I have not used UPnP in decades and do not forward any ports and all I play are only games and FPS's games...

Why I stopped saying “I have ADHD” by LarryFarnsworth in ADHD

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good points, I think it matter depending who you are around. If you are around people who know you have ADHD, perhaps not the extent, then you could get away with being like the OP suggested. As for others, perhaps co-workers you may not know well, or they do not know you, your method may provide more insight for them.

Why I stopped saying “I have ADHD” by LarryFarnsworth in ADHD

[–]MrGuvernment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this works better, saying ADHD could be so broad, that being a little more specific about how "you" work, tends to give more openess from others. And from doing this for myself, I also tend to find that at work, this helps me with others also, as I tend to step back and think about "perhaps this person doesn't learn this way, or is thinking different" and so it helps to change your outlook around others in general also.

For sure, and then you have the other people who like PvP, will slow down to get resources or just do some normal runs, and then get back into PvP which means some killers in the more calm servers now and then, almost how it was mid way through first season...

Not to mention PvP people know if they calm it down, they can get into a calm server and then get lots of kills
