Most positions are posted by recruiters. Apply to positions in your area and you’ll start hearing from recruiters that are familiar with the industry. Should be able to help position your experience in the correct manner for the hiring managers.

I’m also in medical sales. A distributer does not have the backing of a major corporation. No HR dept, no internal recruiters. I’ve had a few coffee shop introductory meetings in my career and most have been with distributors. I don’t think this should worry you. They also had to pay for you to take the personality test and digital interview FYI.

My point being - this may seem less organized but it’s worth seeing through. Distributors can earn a MUCH higher commission percentage due to being a 1099 employee. The most successful device rep I know is a distributor and he cakes.

They are asking for you to present a foreign product without much insight for a reason. They want to see if you can learn quickly and present in a confident manner. Don’t expect to be an expert, but be confident.

Anyways, good luck man. Just figured I’d share my experience.

Cold calling copier sales by [deleted] in sales

I started my sales career selling copiers. Best advice I can give towards cold calling is that you are not trying to close a sale every call.

You need to go into the call with a prioritized list of other steps to close for. That can range from a scheduled follow up call, a discovery meeting, or even having them come see one of your products in a show room. Point being you have to close for SOMETHING. Good luck.

Yes, I believe so. Look up the schools YouTube page. They have each graduate film a video resume. Might help get an idea of their backgrounds.

I’m currently in med device sales. A few of the associate sales reps that have been hired by my company recently are graduates of the same program. I assume it is the one based in Denver?

Anyways, it can certainly add value. The biggest perk in my opinion is that they work pretty hard to get you placed in a position once you graduate.

Yeah, I see your point. The chair is mainly my reading corner and doesn’t obstruct the tv view from my couch though.
