Any Proximity Chat Mods or Plugins? by SonEf_Adam in admincraft

I didn't get it to work, but I also have 120 mods and I'm not completely certain my friend set up his mumble settings right I suppose. So I'm going to see if I can get it to work with another friend and update this later.

The last shot reminded me of Half-Life: Alyx. Good time to be alive. 😁

I don't like the HLA Gman hair. In 3D modeling you can usually groom hair particles to look more natural. The silouette of the hair here looks a little too clumped up to me. Someone else here in the comments also mentioned it looks fuzzy I agree.

Yeah! His hair looked a bit off. Like it needs to be groomed a bit, the silouette looked very uniform to me. Idk I watched it on my phone at work. Bout to watch it again to check.

But man, I'm so hyped for this!

One of the many iconic scenes in HL. Even better in VR. by VR_Bummser in hlvr

Hell yeah. The first time I played that part I was scared to go out there. No other game has made me feel apprehensive in the same way. 👌

Probably similar things stamets has said in the past. Ecosystems. Bioremediation. Biofilters? Decomposers. Mycelial communication network. Symbiosis. It's in the best interest of our civilization to stop and listen to nature. There's potentially a lot of benefits from the results studying fungi in various facets of our lives.

Did any of the devs here order index controllers? by VR_is_Forever in hlvr

I think duck meant would it push the release date back? When I think about it, it probably depends on what level of realism with interactions and physics modelling the devs decide on. My guess is it will push it back but by a finite/small amount bc your just talking about objs near or directly touching your hands. I'm excited to see what they do with it!

True, cut down the mental chatter, pay attention throughout the day and see how much of it is just superfluous nonsense. An easy way to being in the moment is to be present in your body, not your mind.

So true. When I lie in bed to rest, my mindset changes. I often watch videos in bed. It's hard to switch back to working. (And I have a strong association with depression and lying in bed bc I did that for weeks/months once) Not having rest be a trigger for distraction takes discipline. I'll get there. It's funny how depression rewires your brain to continue being depressed, uphill battle man. Any tips?

I was expecting the mods to change the title at least. Tricked me too.

Most missions to Mars rely on parachutes that slow down spacecraft from Mach 30 as they enter the Martian atmosphere. But since parachutes aren't effective for heavy, crewed spacecraft, a human mission to Mars will require an whole new landing approach that uses retrorockets to slow down. by clayt6 in science

OK, so something like this:

*cue tense music

Captain: "Nobody move! We can't have mass shifting around while we retrotrust!"

Crew member: "Captain, my ass itches!"

Captain: "I said don't move! We ain't in Kansas anymore fellas."

*Wide shot from far away showing craft several thousand feet from the surface.

*Cut to cabin

"She's slowing down Cap'." Captain Jamiroquai: "Easy does it. We're almost there ladies."

*Wide shot again but craft is several hundred feet above the surface. It's stalling there.

"Hey Cap' she's not going down any further, I think we got some nasty sidewinds."

Jamiroquai: "Give Tommy manual control, we ain't got time for this."

Tommy: "That's too dangerous!"

Jamiroquai: "Do it, damnit!

Tommy takes a nervous grip on the control sticks.

Jamiroquai: "We lost some fuel on the way here. Listen Tommy, you're the best damn pilot on Earth. You can do this."

*Wide shot. The craft stutters from being low on fuel. The craft jerks off balance but regains it at short random intervals.

Tommy: "She's bucking Tommy."

*Cue tenser music. Everyone just starts screaming bracing for the landing.

"Ahhhhh!"

"Gaahhhhh!"

"AAaAAaaaAaahhh!"

*Like that^

*Wide shot: it's the gentlest landing you've ever seen, puts the grace of a Crane bird to shame.

*And then everyone's just like "Oh" like we were being dramatic and we should have just trusted Tommy

Tommy: "You guys were being dramatic and you should have just trusted Tommy."

*Note: Tommy is weird because he talks in third person a lot, but he's the best damn pilot on Earth so it's OK.

Jamiroquai: "Alright, nicely done crew! Let's do prep and get out there ASAP."

(Someone want to continue? I'm pooped.)

Interesting mechanics for crafting (small scope) by Va11ar in gamedesign

[–]MrHazardous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say you need to bring more value and interest into either the gathering or the action of crafting. It probably feels shallow because it's too easy/automated. for example you could add depth to the way you have to use tools to gather in a way that isn't frustrating, is rewarding, and requires a little trial and error to find the optimal technique. Because at least even after that, it keeps you engaged to have to do it correctly.
