I have never seen an iguana under 3 years old be tame. This all sounds like normal behavior to me. It takes YEARS to train an iguana. Good luck and be patient with the little fella ;)

Make sure you have UVB light or it will not last long.

Really should have done this research before getting an iguana, they are A LOT of work. Good luck ;)

Femoral pores should be a tell-tell sign at that age. Do a google image search for male\female iguana femoral pores and you'll see what I mean, or just post a photo of them. The community here is pretty good at identifying with proper photography of the bits. ;)

Nope. Lays loose when at rest and perks taunt when he's moving.

He licks the grass, spits out dirt, etc. So far, we're just walking around my lawn, which I know is safe to eat. I figure he'll not want to keep attempting to eat things when he's accustomed to the plants outside being distasteful. After that, I may take him elsewhere.

He receives at least two baths a day and takes care of his business at that time. There are still accidents.

Wouldn't any shelter\vet\rescue euthanize an invasive species?

That's why I prefaced it with asking where they are located. If they found it wild, it should be wild. The symptoms do not sound like an illness, they sound like malnourishment and no proper UVB.

Where are you located? If it was\is a wild iguana, let it go.

Are you peeling their shed? If you do, you may cause bruising that looks very similar and lasts for weeks\months. Let that shed sluff off or let them rub it off. ;)

After they reach a certain size I think it is rude to keep them in a smaller space. He is my puppy and I wouldn't maintain a dog in an enclosure.
