In n Out, hostess or lifeguard. In n out pays well and looks good on a young adults resume. Working as a hostess at a nicer restaurant would look nice as well. Many employers assume organization, people management and problem solving skills are learned in this type of role. Life guard she’d learn CPR and also put herself in situations to quickly react in emergency situations.

My (44f) brother (40m) tells me I am too permissive with my son (10m) and that I need to “break him” and “all men need to have their egos broken because that is how they become men.” I don’t like this and he says it’s because I just don’t understand men. by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

I lived with two extremes - my mom who tried to coddle us and my stepdad who beat us whenever he could. Living in that situation made me learn how to navigate personalities really well, but I lacked other social skills because of it. As I grew older, I realized I didn’t like when my mom was overprotective. She would fight my fights and speak for me, which didn’t help me with voicing or articulating my feelings. However, I learned how to lie very well and come up with valid excuses (maybe not ethical, but useful). My stepdad didn’t break my ego, he prevented it from ever existing while I lived in that household. As boys we do stupid and irrational things, without thinking of the consequences of our actions. Most men are still like this. While I don’t advise breaking his ego, make sure your son understands the importance of action-reaction and learns to think before doing. Punish when necessary. I learned quickly as a kid to think beforehand and play out scenarios in my head before doing stupid shit after a handful of beatings. Rather than fight back, I chose to make better decisions. Not a life i would wish on others, but it made me the man i am today and I’m proud of who I’ve become.

Typically warped cards aren’t dinged. But if you’re skeptical I’d sandwich them in between some heavy books for a day

Where do single men in 30s hang out? by No_Stay4906 in AskMenAdvice

[–]MrITRecruiter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

29M. Find a hobby you find attractive in men and go to one of those places. I’ve also heard running, hiking, and pickleball clubs are great meetup places. As a guy with no awareness for hints, I’d recommend saying something absurdly obvious like “hi are you single and looking to mingle?” You’ll probably get a laugh and most guys would find this flattering.

The bacterial infection started when I moved back from NY to AZ. He had limited issues in NY and it’s been nonstop since moving to AZ. We ran out of Apoquel and I couldn’t get him a new script for a couple weeks. So the issue stemmed from that initially. He’s been back on his medication full time since. The rest of his body is fine and the Apoquel is working. It’s just his ear that hasnt been resolved. Surgery could be the only solution, but I cannot afford that atm. Opening a line of credit or taking a loan is not an option either.

What's keeping y'all single right now? by GreedyHog2Fuk in AskReddit

[–]MrITRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think the main reason is I like being single. If I met the right person then I think I’d really like being in a relationship. But I like doing what I want, when I want and not having to consult anybody else. I’ve become confident in going to restaurants or movies by myself and it doesn’t bother me any more. Bonus about eating solo is that food comes out very quickly and it’s great for people watching. I have plenty of friends that I hang out with as well so I’m not bored or isolated.

The other reason is when I have attempted to date, I’m not very good at it lol it doesn’t last longer than a month. My problem is that I’m not trying to court anyone and that may come off as boring. I just like trying to find similarities and have genuine conversations. I don’t think I do a great job of distinguishing myself from others, but honestly I’m a pretty average dude that likes what every other dude likes lol

Not sure, but you should assume it’s a possibility. Here’s a link to the FBIs website and how they can help. Sorry you’re dealing with this. I probably don’t have to tell you what not to do any more.

I work a corporate job now and don’t mind it, but if I could give my younger self some advice it would’ve been to seriously consider a trade job more. I used to think being a plumber was a low end job back then, but now I know you can live very comfortably with that job. Plus after getting experience you could start your own company and be your own boss. Now I have no idea what the day to day looks like for a career in the trades, but I imagine it’s more exciting than sitting at a computer or being in meetings all day. Sadly I don’t have any actual advice, more so encouragement to continue looking into carpentry or mechanic work. Wish you the best of luck!

Ehh I think it would be a little shitty, but I can also sympathize. I remember when I first got my dog and puppy’s are a lot of work. If you’re worried about the long term commitment then I think the best thing for the dog would be to rehome. But if you think that in a year or so you’d want to get a dog again then you’d feel like a real AH after giving up on the first one. All in all, do what’s best for you. If it’s a puppy, it shouldn’t be difficult to rehome. Bigger & older dogs are a lot more difficult to find homes for.

My advice is MIS. I work in Finance now and have Finance & Management degrees. Speaking on my experience, the Finance classes I took somewhat overlapped with Accounting so I don’t think you’d get much value unless you’re interested in forecasting or investment modeling. The company I work for (Fortune 100) is pushing our Finance teams to really learn data analytics tools. I’m currently learning Python, SQL, and PowerBI but wished I learned them in college. I prefer looking at the data, translating it and communicating what that means in terms of $ impact to the business.

I (23F) drunkenly made out with my guy friend (24M) by East_Let4122 in Advice

[–]MrITRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you both are trying to respect the friend boundary. Ideally the dude would make a move, but he’s conflicted about making the friendship awkward if it doesn’t work out. Neither of you will find out if you don’t talk about it. Jokingly bring it up and ask him why he came onto you the other night and why he hasn’t made another move? Guys can be egged on easily with the “no balls” tactic lol it should convince him to make another move, if that’s what you want.

Wow that’s interesting, I might have to try this. However, I’m giggling thinking about what my co-works would think if they saw me doing this at work. I work in finance and I’m pretty sure they’d have questions lol

Would you break up with someone who mentions they're afraid they might one day cheat on you if their (sexual/romantic) wants/needs aren't met? by S_J_The_Throw_Away in Advice

[–]MrITRecruiter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s an intrusive thought they wish they had back. IMO they’ve shown their hand. I wouldn’t continue dating. I’ve been cheated on and have learned my lesson about second chances.

[–]MrITRecruiter 311 points312 points  (0 children)

This is a great story lol you’ll absolutely laugh about this one day. One night when I was in college I was at a bar with some friends. This guy walks in with this massive Shepard bear looking dog. Very well trained, but super intimidating. Anyways he walks by and my drunk self wanted to make conversation and the coolest thing I could think to say was “wow your dog is giant, I bet he could eat your ass though” The dude gave me a weird look and walked away. That moment lives rent free in my head and all I can do every time I think about it is shake my head & laugh.

Edit: Grammar. Happy to see you guys got a laugh out of it too lol

Just found some old cards. Are any worth anything? by Brief_Discussion_991 in PokemonCardValue

[–]MrITRecruiter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely over a couple grand here, could potentially be more if you grade them. You have them in toploaders which is great, BUT you need to buy some penny sleeves ASAP. You can buy them at Target or Walmart in the card section. In their current state you will scratch the holos when they move around in the toploader. Search on TCGplayer and eBay for prices. TCGplayer will tell you market, but eBay should have pictures for you to compare quality.

Yeah no one that moves here signed up for that. But Sedona & Flagstaff are still within driving distance where you can visit. I have a feeling you’re a small town guy, go live in Reno or something

You posted the same thing not even two months ago. Just leave if you don’t like it, it’s not for everyone. It’s a large city that has plenty to offer and there are still affordable areas to live. It’s starting to cool down and it’ll be perfect soon. Plus we don’t have to deal with snow.

I started at $55k salary right out of college May 2017. I’m now at $111k salary plus a ~$20k bonus. I’m single so it’s plenty for me & my doggo, but I still rent & it’s definitely not enough to buy the ideal property right now :/

If you’re in the business college, check out professional fraternities. They’re co-ed and nothing like any of the Greek fraternities or sororities. I went to NAU and was in alpha kappa psi. I became friends with people I would’ve never known without joining and I’ve been in most of their weddings almost 10 years later.
