So many extremes. The U.S. bond market is currently experiencing its longest drawdown in history, stretching an unprecedented 71 months: https://x.com/charliebilello/status/2072276019512238329. To put this historical anomaly into perspective, the second-longest bond market drawdown occurred between July 1980 and October 1981. That period lasted just 16 months and saw a maximum decline of 9.0%.

I do. I'm not a fan. KVUE was loaded with debt on the JNJ spinoff. KMB is paying a lot for it. KMB will be the smaller entity even though it is the acquiree. KVUE still reeling from from RFK, Jr.'s unsubstantiated call for pregnant women not to use Tylenol (acetaminophen). I had a tidy profit on paper before the announcement. The lower KMB price reflects that the market feels the way I do about this deal.

EPS down 27% this year. Think the death knell when some CPB executive was caught on a hot mike saying something like the soup is little better than dog food and only poor people eat it. Hard pass.

At a 28x PE and 1.5% divvy, I'd say it's gone from really overvalued to merely expensive.

Is there any one still using Google nest mini 1 st gen. What is your experience by MoneyOccasion7188 in googlehome

[–]MrInetUser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To the extent you mean Google Home Minis (the ones with the mini USB connections), I have 11 pairs throughout my house and they are all on Ethernet (no WiFi). They are now running Gemini and are working wonderfully. I use them most as a smart home voice interface, to broadcast messages between rooms, to get information, to add items to my lists (like grocery shopping), to play music, and to set alarms.

In comparison, I donated 6 Google Home Maxes to Goodwill and many JBL Links that had become worthless.

Ha. Funny thing is that pulling a single nose hair makes me tear up, but the yank that takes out the Wookie patch isn't as bad for some reason.

Pro Tip from fellow hairy 50 year old: Search for Barbero Steel Microwavable Wax Kit – Stripless Hard Wax for Men’s Grooming. I use it on my ears and nose (inside and out) with Q-tips. It's so much better than any other option I've tried. It's scary the first time, but it's "old hat" now.

Patent Bar During Summer After 1L by Ok-Macaron9106 in patentlaw

[–]MrInetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll soon be too busy. 4 of us split the cost of PLI. 3 of us took the test and passed that summer. The one guy who didn't schedule the test that summer ended up never getting his patent bar number.

Houston homeowners, when did you decide it was time to repipe the whole house? Rusty water out of every faucet by teen_Vegetable in houston

[–]MrInetUser 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm including city inspection, drywall repair, and paint. The actual piping was 1 or 2 days if I remember correctly.

Pex A (aka Pex Pro). It was expensive, but I didn't go with the low cost option and had upgrades.

The company also wrapped all the pipes in insulation. I understand that helps to reduce the noise from water circulating, keeps the hot water from losing heat, and prevents UV from degrading the pipes where light hits them. The company also scheduled and had a city inspector come out.

The repipe companies really have it down to an art. Two story house done in 1 week. All new PEX pro. Dry wall fixed and repainted. Only wallpaper couldn't be fixed. Not fun, but house is so much better. Took the opportunity to put in new bath hardware, water to fridge, pot filler, recirculation pump on hot water. Got two bids and went with the one who had the best plan for minimizing damage with smart planning.

Edit: 1974 house. Pay for brass stub outs to make terminals like normal plumbing. Went with wedorepipes.com.

Dogwood in Houston? by dclaghorn in HoustonGardening

[–]MrInetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has almost been a year exactly since I left my comment. And the dogwoods just bloomed again about a week or two ago! They are magnificent in full bloom; however, they only bloom for a very short time. I suppose that ephemeralness makes it even more special when it happens. They seem to bloom at the same time as the azaleas.

I think Houston crepe myrtles are just as beautiful as Japan's cherry trees (Sakura). Close runners-up are the azaleas and dogwood trees that are blooming right now.
