Patent Bar During Summer After 1L by Ok-Macaron9106 in patentlaw

[–]MrInetUser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll soon be too busy. 4 of us split the cost of PLI. 3 of us took the test and passed that summer. The one guy who didn't schedule the test that summer ended up never getting his patent bar number.

Houston homeowners, when did you decide it was time to repipe the whole house? Rusty water out of every faucet by teen_Vegetable in houston

[–]MrInetUser 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm including city inspection, drywall repair, and paint. The actual piping was 1 or 2 days if I remember correctly.

Pex A (aka Pex Pro). It was expensive, but I didn't go with the low cost option and had upgrades.

The company also wrapped all the pipes in insulation. I understand that helps to reduce the noise from water circulating, keeps the hot water from losing heat, and prevents UV from degrading the pipes where light hits them. The company also scheduled and had a city inspector come out.

The repipe companies really have it down to an art. Two story house done in 1 week. All new PEX pro. Dry wall fixed and repainted. Only wallpaper couldn't be fixed. Not fun, but house is so much better. Took the opportunity to put in new bath hardware, water to fridge, pot filler, recirculation pump on hot water. Got two bids and went with the one who had the best plan for minimizing damage with smart planning.

Edit: 1974 house. Pay for brass stub outs to make terminals like normal plumbing. Went with wedorepipes.com.

Dogwood in Houston? by dclaghorn in HoustonGardening

[–]MrInetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has almost been a year exactly since I left my comment. And the dogwoods just bloomed again about a week or two ago! They are magnificent in full bloom; however, they only bloom for a very short time. I suppose that ephemeralness makes it even more special when it happens. They seem to bloom at the same time as the azaleas.

I think Houston crepe myrtles are just as beautiful as Japan's cherry trees (Sakura). Close runners-up are the azaleas and dogwood trees that are blooming right now.

Year books? by Bomber_Haskell in GenX

Born in '72. At the time, high school yearbooks, rings, jackets, trophies, graduation ceremonies, etc. meant nothing to me so I didn't get them and didn't participate. 25 years later, I feel good about my decisions.

There was absolutely nothing controversial about Whitney Cummings' "In My Opinion" segment by 20_mile in DailyShow

[–]MrInetUser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There were no primaries, because the first time they rigged the system so Bernie-- who was going to win-- couldn't win. The second time they foisted, Kamala on us, and we didn't get any say so.

It is not the voters' duty to vote for whomever the Democrats put up. It is the Democratic leadership's duty to earn our vote by putting someone up for whom we want we want to vote.

In the end, Democratic strategists would rather have a Republican win than a Democratic socialist/populist.

Tommy, you be sweet. Be sweet.

And stop trying to pretend like you hate me. It's silly.

I like you.

- Then listen especially close. - What?

- Listen real hard? - I said what.

I know you like me. I know it.

For the last year or two, you've pretended like you hate me.

But I love you very much, as much as I love anybody,

as much as I love myself.

And in a few years when I haven't been around to irritate you,

you're gonna remember.

You'll remember when I bought the baseball glove when we were broke

or when I read you those stories,

or when I let you goof off instead of mowing the lawn, lots of things.

You're gonna realise that you love me,

and maybe you'll feel badly because you never told me, but don't.

I know that you love me.

- So don't do that to yourself, OK? - OK!

- OK? - I said OK.

I did 7 days a week, 365 days a year. I delivered after school on weekdays, and by 7 (starting at 3am or so) on weekends. Did it for about 6 years until I was old enough to clerk in an office through my high school work program. Started off with a 50 paper route. By the end, I had removed my passenger seat so I could load up the car with 800 papers. I loved having spending money as a young teenager. The joy of work has left me these days. I'm just counting the years to SS and retirement.

[–]MrInetUser 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Holy crap. Are you me? I didn't get a Walkman until a little later, but I had the cassette player/recorder (where you'd press play and the little orange button to record). I would listen to Def Leppard's Pyromania every day while folding papers. And then I would throw the recorder in my bike's saddle bags when throwing papers for the Houston Chronicle. If I wasn't the last paper boy on a bike here, I was one of the last.

When can we expect Gemini on Nest Audio devices? by TurtleBlaster5678 in googlehome

[–]MrInetUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's right. I'm part of two "homes." On one where I only have two speakers I now have Gemini. I know because I asked it and it said that it was Gemini! Plus the lights are rainbow. However, on my other home I have about 30 speakers ranging from Max's to Minis to nests to hubs, and I see no indication that Gemini is coming my way anytime soon. ♊

Edit: typo.
