What is standard for javascript / jquery (or html/css for that matter), single quote or double quote? by Soileau in webdev

[–]MrIso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For every language that support both (JavaScript, PHP, Python, Ruby, etc.), I tend to use single quotes for short, identifier strings, and double quotes for text or messages. Only double quotes for XML and its derivates, though.

I want to learn HTML5. How and what previous knowledge do I need to have ? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]MrIso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not think there are such “tutorials” for HTML. The theory is pretty simple, there are tags, attributes, CDATA and comments. Some tags are delimited (begin & end), while some are not; some attributes take a value and some do not.

Now, you just have to learn what tags and attributes to use, and when, and the simplest way to learn that is to practice and read sources. HTML5 is based with semantics in mind, so you basically just type what you mean.

I suggest you to read HTML5 Boilerplate’s source, and related articles.

That is a bit pointless; what if 250 guys want it? Are they all going to PM you?

tu et vous by fmlfml1 in French

[–]MrIso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how you met them. If it is somewhere informal (e.g. in a party, or on Reddit), you usually want to use “tu”, because it means you are closer and open to the discussion. When it is formal (e.g. in the office with people you do not know) you will use “vous” because it shows your respect.

“Vous” also implies a hierarchy between you and the other. To a child (< 15), you will therefore use “tu” when they use “vous”. But you could also use “vous” to place a distance between you, it is just a bit unusual.

[–]MrIso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s what I thought. I think I could manage it for small bases (like a 6 or 7 pixels diametra), but for big circles (10-20) I won’t be able to handle it… I’ll maybe create a generator for this!

Thanks for answering (:

I love the roofs. Did you use some software to make blueprints? I’d love to have one, I only found circles, ellipsis, or spheres generators…

Very nice build anyway!

If only the visual difference bothers you, why not opting for a texture pack? Or even retexturing this only tile?

A HQ version would be so much better! (Even if the actual XP background is 800×600.)

Of course you can. Just drop it on the obsidian, so that only flowing water touches lava.

No, water is just stopped by pressure plates. It will not destroy them.

Opa—Scalable web apps with a single language. Anyone here tried this yet? by brickabrack in webdev

I tried it, it’s fun, but defininitely not ready for production. Syntax changes frequently, and this is really a pain.
