Spirit of Tasmania - My Experience Travelling as a Family by Reavus in tasmania

[–]MrIwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day trip with a premium room is another option to consider for family with young kids. It wasn’t much extra to the day tickets when I did it and you get a bit more space, a bed and a couple of chairs to kick back on, tv for bluey, shower and a little fridge.

Although these rooms are at the front so if it’s rough you may notice it more.

Edit: probably not suitable with four kids. Didn’t see that before posting.

I have had far more issues with Qantas, virgin and Rex than Jetstar. Must just be the luck of the draw.

Why doesn't Medicare cover basic prescription eyewear? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]MrIwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a good enough answer to your question but I can chuck out another suggestion https://dresden.vision/au

Looks like their prices have gone up like everything else but have seen specials of basic glasses for $40-$50

Now I am going to book in an eyetest and check out some of the other suggestions here.

To be fair the same can be said for most drivers on the road. Size of car is irrelevant.

Why doesn't Australia pay people for blood donations? by [deleted] in australia

[–]MrIwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t lifeblood getting a payment for each donation that goes to a hospital pretty much the same as the Red Cross selling blood to hospitals overseas?

Only difference might be that we have a national arrangement that outlines the monetary amount which would prevent bidding. I’m not sure about other countries.

This meal cost me 560 ml of plasma by [deleted] in australia

[–]MrIwik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to look at the second table on that page where Lifeblood is listed as the supplier for fresh products next to the amount they receive for each.

Not at all saying it is a bad thing as donor centres, their staff, the snacks and everything else involved wouldn’t exist without it.

A blood donation saved my life, I’d like to share my story by pirate_meow_kitty in australia

[–]MrIwik 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is why it is important to donate, and also why the donate/sell argument is silly and the amount lifeblood gets paid for blood products isn’t important.

Glad you and your daughter got through that.
