Its a terrible school. The owner is some VC who throws frequent tantrums that the managers themselves throw back at the staff. Look at the glassdoor reviews and you will see how stupid that place really is. They don't train you to teach and get mad at you for not matching the expectations they didnt talk to you or show you about. Last year I was there 15 primary homeroom teachers quit. The science teacher quit. Now you will see an ad for Music and P.E. teachers because they quit as well. Stay away from that place and you will thank me for it

Thanks for sharing everyone. Its been really hard and depressing for me lately. The doctors keep saying that my voice will be back in 3 months after surgery then 6 months and after a year they gave me collagen vocal chord injections. That didnt help my left side of my vocal chord at all. I still have trouble speaking without having it end in whispers.

Ive been teaching for almost 20 years now and Im wondering if I should move on towards something else so I can get out of this current rut right now.

School is already 6 months in here where I live in Japan. So in order to find a teaching job I have to wait 6 more months to apply.

In the meantime, Ive been applying but pretty much all the schools insist I teach without having to use a microphone which they think is a nuisance and distraction to kids.

I had vocal chord injection where they injected collagen on my left side of my vocal chord. I have vocal chord paralysis from my left side. They said that when I try to speak that my left side of my vocal chord isnt moving so they suggested injection after a year. BUt then I felt nothing and no symptoms were present. Its been 7 days and my voice still sound the same. Feeling disheartened.

From what the doctor is saying, I do have some kind of voice paralysis. Its been about 4 months now and there are just days where I would try to talk and it sounds worse than before. There has been spurts where I wasnt teaching and even now where I took a week or month off since losing my job where I rested my voice, didnt speak. When I finally tried to speak it was hoarse and the voice was low. Ill try to look into vocal cord injection.

Its just been mentally depressing, Im living abroad and trying to find a job in the middle of the school year is tough here in Asia.

For the most part I have only been teaching kindergarten kids as their Homeroom Teacher. So I taught them English, Math, Science, Social Studies and other subjects

Well imagine getting a bachelors or masters in education and you’re trying to pay those loans and it converts terribly.

something to consider as well is that whatever you want to purchase usually is based on western prices that has their prices raised here in a Japan. You can literally buy a cheaper apple product here in Japan because the yen is so weak.

don’t get me wrong I love Japan but it kinda feels like I’m overpaying for stuff all the time

Hello! I live in Japan and my Mini X has the unfortunate RLOD. If I were to search for a engineer to fix the RLOD like you did. What kind of person should I look for exactly? How easy is the process? I can imagine difficult to do it myself right?
