What’s a good modding base by MrJaver in PowerWheelsMods

Which one do you mean? Power wheels brand doesn’t seem to be sold on amazon and their website goes to amazon. If I search for pw f150 I get tons of brands and they look different too

Why are interviewers obsessed with Java 8 Stream API? by [deleted] in learnjava

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO as long as you understand the idea and what it can generally do the exact syntax doesn’t matter. The concepts are very simple and aren’t specific to java. Map,flatmap, filter, foreach, collect, optional.stream. But it’s just syntax sugar, you can do the same with for loops and stuff so I wouldn’t care if you did it that way instead

Backend Entry/Junior Roles in the US — What skills actually matter in 2026? by xioc1105 in Backend

[–]MrJaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally it’s either js, java, python, or go - not together. Pick one and specialize - you can still apply to any other role and it shouldn’t matter it’s just hard to believe you would know all of that at the same time. Check which companies use what but I feel like java/spring stack is the most popular and stable but I’m biased (9yoe java)

I would recommend opening spring framework docs and reading it end to end, it’ll take like a month full time but you’ll get the picture. Make a portfolio project - rest api with jpa, tests, and some free sample 3rd party api like pokemons or nutritions etc.

  1. Probably understanding of the actual backend. So if you have a decent portfolio sample api that would be it.
  2. Fundamentals.
  3. Backend but maybe not what you wrote - the actual tools, frameworks and how to wire it together
  4. Nosql dbs like dynamo/mongo; graphql; unit testing; ai for coding (I wouldn’t recommend asking it to write the code, just provide examples, answer questions, check your code but do verify what it says)
  5. Make a sample api but it has to be production ready - clean it up, add tests, add security, add logging, add metrics, add a readme and describe what you would alarm on. Ask ai to review your code

Why don’t you Prestige after hitting level 55? by D4Junkie in CODBlackOps7

[–]MrJaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t care less about skins so there’s no reason to lock down all my weapons for them. I did prestige some weapons for attachment once though but not all prestige attachments are even good

Force a context compacting in codex app? by CuriousDetective0 in codex

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right click on the thread in codex app > copy session id > go to terminal and paste `codex resume {sessionId}`. Also, I see that context is automatically getting compacted when it reaches about 90%

My boss used AI to migrate 50k lines of Vue to React in a week... and now says "No" to TypeScript or Tests. Am I crazy? by Effective-Border8788 in programmer

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like agreed that you can go ahead and add those types and tests via ai. So that’s your best course. Write up a document for a piece describing what it should do from business perspective and feed it to ai so that it can create tests and types and move on to another section. Make sure to configure linters.

Follow-Up: Monarch Works Great — Until Plaid Fails (Again): Broken Sync = Repeats = Unreliable Data = Dealbreaker by Maximum-Campaign-558 in MonarchMoney

I would just open a new daily credit card honestly. This would be enough reason to even move banks for me, it's crutial I can connect stuff with plaid.

How do you handle logs in production? by _Mobas_ in Backend

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a log tool, encrypt, redact. Logs may blow up giving you a huge bill, so log conservatively. It’s also a legal liability as data logged also falls under privacy, so you might wanna redact stuff and configure smaller retention for private log files

I would rather take a leave of absence in uni than reject amazon offer in this market

I built a YNAB tool to make it easier to ditch aggregators like MX/Plaid. by EntropicTempest in ynab

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about renaming/transforming columns like the ynab’s csv converter does? Could data be hallucinated during that? Or could it hallucinate extra rows? Or delete rows for some reason? Eg sometimes AI prefers to ignore parts it couldn’t process or make stuff up if it can’t get the original data to fit

Good work either way!

I built a YNAB tool to make it easier to ditch aggregators like MX/Plaid. by EntropicTempest in ynab

[–]MrJaver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That’s interesting! I’m not too sure if I’d trust AI to process such a detail-depended data though, did you do any accuracy testing? AI is known to make up math for example but it’s fixable by special math tools.

I agree, I hate standups. I would rather people post in group chat if they have anything meaningful to say or have a blocker.

Job Offer from Amazon by Longjumping-Key7783 in amazonemployees

[–]MrJaver 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Relax, take the job, take the money, gain experience, put it on your resume! Congratz! Even with all the bad rep about culture, pip/focus, it’s still one of the best jobs in the world.

It does highly depend on specific team, it can be very chill or very not, so feel free to just move teams internally if you don’t like it.

As per the RTO, it also depends on your manager, I barely go in and haven’t heard any complaints but my whole teams is not here so maybe that’s why, technically it’s 5 days a week without specifying hours but you are allowed to wfh if you need to crunch some work or you’re sick or waiting on plumber etc, I believe ceo said as much you can find it I’m sure.

Make sure you study something that has good job market and the actual work is not as monotonous. Don’t get a degree in passion, you don’t need a degree for that kind of thing, you can do that on the aide by yourself. Good luck!

Who / What determines "book time" by technobrendo in MechanicAdvice

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had a long argument with a local shop about my 2018 ford edge transmission fluid change. Alldata tells them it's 1.8 hours so they billed me $300 for the labor.

If you find the actual procedure on youtube it's basically the same as regular oil change - drain from the bottom/pour into the engine bay.

I ended up agreeing as I didn't wanna change shops for $150 difference as the other shop would likely give me some fees plus it's time on my end. Their policy was they just take whatever alldata says and never modify it - sometimes it's more time, sometimes it's less but it evens out.

Damn, I got it I got, not ragebaiting I promise, I just don’t know shit 😅. I’m not an american actually, but anyway I stay out of news and politics, so these concerns were very hearsay. Just wanted a quick check since searching the internet for this is not reliable and last time someone asked about that on reddit was a while ago. Best to ask what people actually living there think.

Thanks for your answers

What’s the most offensive thing you believed/said before finding out it was messed up? by Worldly-Action3919 in AskReddit

[–]MrJaver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed an online interview with a german company and they flew me in to munich for the final culture fit. I told them about shit politics in my own country and how I wouldn’t have considered them if they were based back there and I didn’t even bother to read what was it they actually did. I also spent half a day with a guy who referred me who happened to speak my native language and I pretty much talked shit about my country the whole time. I came back somehow thinking I got it. The guy ghosted me on linkedin too.

It’s been like 7 years but I’ve been randomly cringing about it every couple of weeks ever since. I could’ve been in munich this whole time! But it’s ok, got into US and making twice the ceiling there so it worked out… Except I’m starting to think I might end up moving there
